MOWA - Monster Energy Sprint Series(Bill W) September 10, 2012 – For some, the high banks of the Spoon River Speedway are the ultimate in speed and competition in central Illinois.  The Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) will test the racy oval this Saturday night as part of the 28th Annual Tom Knowles Memorial.  Who will add their name to the prestigious list of winners at the Spoon?

Two events were held at Spoon River Speedway, located south of Canton, Illinois in 2011.  Brian Brown won an event there in July, before Jerrod Hull notched a win in the Tom Knowles Memorial in September.  Hull, the MOWA defending champion, leads the series’ standings heading in.

AJ Bruns is second in the standings, ahead of Jim Moughan Jr. and Korey Weyant, who are tied for third.  Ben Wagoner, Chris Urish, Jimmy Hurley, Jordan Goldesberry, Robbie Standridge and Logan Faucon round out the top ten in the competitive series.

MOWA drivers are champing at the bit to get on the track as their last two events were won by Mother Nature!  The last action came with a Hurley win at Jacksonville on August 24.

The POWRi midgets will also be on hand at Spoon River!  Red hot Kyle Larson was the winner of their event last year, and the midgets always go three and four-wide on the high banks!

Tickets are just $20 for general admission.  Children 6-10 are $5, with 5 and under FREE!  Racing is scheduled for 7 p.m.!  For more information, visit www.SpoonRiverSpeedway.webs.com!
