Track Champions Crowned at Quincy During Season Championship Night

Michael Long, Jake Griffin, Terry Houston, Tony Dunker, Jake Powers and Austen Becerra all took the Season Championship feature event wins on Sunday September 16 at Quincy Raceways while Jason Perry UMP Super Late Models, Steven DeLonjay Miller Lite UMP Modifieds, Terry Houston IMCA Stock Cars, Tony Dunker Summy Tire & Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMods, Jake Powers Quincy Hobby Stocks and Seith Woodruff IMCA Sport Compacts claimed the 2012 Track Point’s Championships.

Michael Long took the UMP Super Late Model Season Championship feature event win after getting the lead from national point’s leader Brian Shirley who suffer mechanical problems on the eleventh lap. Long then held off Dustin Griffin to claim his first UMP Super Late Model feature win atQuincyfollowed byGriffinin second, Mark Burgtorf in third, Bobby Pierce in fourth and Jim Moon in fifth. Brian Shirley set the fast time in qualifying with a lap of 13.727 and claimed the win in the Fast 6 Dash. The heat race wins went to Jason Frankel and Clint Kirkham.

Jason Perry claimed the first ever UMP Super Late Model Track Point’s Championship over Dustin Griffin in second, Mark Burgtorf in third, Justin Reed in fourth and Jim Moon in fifth. Justin Reed had a shot at the title going into the nights racing but engine woes put him out of contention as Perry went on to claim his first ever Track Championship.

Jake Griffin scored his first Miller Lite UMP Modified feature event win atQuincyduring the Season Championship feature event over Dave Wietholder in second, Jared Schlipman in third, Craig Spegal in fourth and Tony Patterson in fifth. Spegal and Shawn Deering were the heat race winners while Steven DeLonjay claimed the Fast 6 Dash win. Jared Schlipman took the qualifying honors with a lap of 16.120.

Steven DeLonjay came into the Season Championship night with an insurmountable points lead to claim his second consecutive Miller Lite UMP Modified Track Points Championship. Jared Schlipman finished the points season in second followed by Dave Wietholder in third, Shawn Deering in fourth and Jake Griffin in fifth.

Terry Houston took the IMCA Stock Car Season Championship feature event win after a race long battle with Darin Weisinger. Weisinger settled for the second spot followed by Michael Larsen in third, Abe Huls in fourth and Jim Powell in fifth. Weisinger and Houston were the heat race winners.

Houston laid claim the Track Points Championship over Jerry Jansen in second Abe Huls in third, Darin Weisinger in fourth and Michael Larsen in fifth.

Tony Dunker took the Season Championship feature event win after a race long battle with Bobby Anders to claim his twelfth points feature win of the season in the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMods. Anders settled for second followed by Tanner Klingele in third, Brandon Dale in fourth and Joe Bliven in fifth. Nathan Anders and Chris Larson were the heat race winners.

Dunker took his first Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA SportMod Track Points Championship with his feature win with Bobby Anders in second, Joe Bliven in third, Tanner Klingele in fourth and Brad Holtmeyer fifth in the final point standings.

Jake Powers scored the Quincy Hobby Stock Season Championship feature event win over Brandon Symmonds in the second spot, Tanner Klingele in third, Brian Hoener in fourth and Jeff DeLonjay in fifth. Jim Brown and Powers were the heat race winners.

Powers also took home the Track Points Championship, his first Track Championship as well by besting Brandon Symmonds, Tanner Klingele, Brian Hoener and Jeff DeLonjay in the final point standings.

Austen Becerra continued his dominance of the IMCA Sport Compact division in the Season Championship feature event. Becerra claimed his seventh points feature win over Seith Woodruff in second, Craig Bangert in third, Jason Stucker in fourth and Robert Thompson Jr. in fifth. Becerra and Jason Stucker were the heat race winners.

Seith Woodruff laid claim to his second consecutive Sport Compact Track Points Championship with Kim Abbott in second, Austen Bercerra in third, Lane VanZandt in fourth and Brandon Lambert in fifth. Abbott has a shot at becoming the first female Track Points Champion going into the Season Championship night’s racing but engine woes during the feature event put those dreams to rest.

Racing at Quincy Raceways for the 2012 Season are not done just yet as there are still two race nights left on the schedule on Sunday September 23 and 30. Track Points will not be awarded in any division nor will IMCAState, Region and National points but the UMP Super Late Models and UMP Modifieds will still have the opportunity to score valuable State, Region and National points. The Pit Gates will open at 2:30, Grandstands at 4:00, Drivers Registration will end at 4:30, Hot Laps and Qualifying at 4:45 with racing scheduled for 5:30pm on both the 23rd and 30th of September.
