(Warrensburg, MO) In less than a month fans and former drivers of Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) will converge at the speedway for the Second Annual Hog Roast presented by Earl and Susan Walls. The Walls, long-time CMS promoters, retired at the conclusion of the 2012 season after nearly two decades of operating the speedway. Anyone familiar with racing in the KC Metro is well aware that CMS will forever be associated with big money events, fair treatment and pay and close racing.

The fast-approaching hog roast is being organized by former track staff, fans, and drivers who wish to gather at the track to relive favorite moments, camaraderie, and to look to the future. The Hog Roast will take place on Saturday, October 13.

The event is open to anyone wishing to attend and begins at 5:30 p.m. The food line will open at 6:30 and remain open throughout the evening. The Walls are donating the hog for the event and supplying utensils, plates, napkins, condiments, cups, and a keg. The event will take place in the large shed on the “pit side” of the speedway where plenty of parking is available. Primitive camping is permitted on the grounds; however, all waste items must be removed by the following morning.

Organizers are asking for donations of covered side dishes, favorite snacks, or deserts from those attending. Attendees are encouraged to bring their preferred soft drinks or beverage of choice. Additional items that may come in handy include lawn chairs, personal coolers, and items needed for a bonfire. Donations will also be accepted at the door to help offset the cost of the evening’s entertainment, which is Karaoke by Char from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

A bonfire will light up the night sky outside of the shed to help keep things warm, lawn chairs will likely come in handy for anyone gathering around the fire or visiting. If s ‘mores are your thing, bring your favorites and fix them around the bonfire! Port-a-johns will be located on the grounds.

Organizers are requesting that personnel wishing to attend RSVP to samonthemic@hotmail.com or Facebook/CMS for the purpose of obtaining an estimated head count. RSVP’s are not mandatory but are highly encouraged for anyone planning to attend. The hog roast will take place rain or shine!

Social networking sites have recently exploded with the rumor of CMS opening back up in 2013. However, at this time, the same group making arrangements for the hog roast are also working on putting together 3 to 4 races for 2013. However, at this time there are no plans to run weekly racing at the track next year. Organizers are actively seeking serious backers for the planned events and have already begun searching for supporters.

CMS is located 3.5-miles north of Warrensburg, MO from the junction of Highways 50 and 13 in Warrensburg or from the Higginsville exit off I-70; travel south on Highway 13 for twelve and half miles south. For additional information regarding the hog roast or the planned events for 2013, contact CMS Public Relations director, Sam Stoecklin at samonthemic@hotmail.com.
