Knoxville Raceway(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Birkhofer Racing ventured to the legendary Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana on September 21-22 for the 33rd edition of the ‘Jackson 100.’ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again presided over the storied race, which drew 40 competitors to the 1/4-mile fairgrounds venue, all of whom were seeking the $20,000 top prize. On Friday night during the qualifying session, Brian Birkhofer posted the eighth quickest lap in his group.

When the action really heated up on Saturday evening, Brian unfortunately suffered an early flat tire in his heat race and later finished seventh in his B-Main. After receiving a series provisional to gain access into the 100-lap feature event, Brian rolled off starting twenty-third on the grid in the ‘Jackson 100.’ The Muscatine, Iowa standout moved up several spots during the first half of the race and was knocking on the door to the top ten around the halfway mark when power steering issues plagued his #15b. Brian was forced to retire from the ‘Jackson 100’ in the twentieth position. Complete results from Brownstown can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Next up for the #15b team will be the biggest event of the year in their home state of Iowa – the ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.’ The 9th annual version of the crown jewel extravaganza will take place from September 27-29 at the famous Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. A pair of $7,000 to win preliminary shows are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, while the 100-lapper at the 1/2-mile Marion County fairgrounds oval on Saturday shells out an impressive $40,000 to the victor.

Lucas Oil Production Studios will also be on hand to tape this mega-event for a SPEED and MAVTV broadcast later in the fall. Brian was the 2004 inaugural winner of the ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals’ and will be seeking his second race title this weekend.
