(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) The Rick Eckert Racing team headed to the Wolverine State of Michigan on September 21-22 for the inaugural ‘Down & Dirty 100’
at the Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. The 7/16-mile asphalt oval was covered with over 300 truckloads of clay for the historic event, which boasted a hefty $20,000 winner’s check. After rain washed out Friday’s preliminary activities, the entire show was condensed into a one-day format on Saturday.
Rick Eckert laid down the fastest lap of the 32 entrants during World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying and later won his heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the front row for the start of the ‘Down & Dirty 100,’ Rick hung around the front of the stellar field the entire distance before recording a solid third place effort in the 100-lapper.
“Scrub,” who sits second in the latest version of the WOOLMS point standings, crossed underneath the checkers behind only winner Darrell Lanigan and runner-up Billy Moyer. Complete results from Berlin can be accessed online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.
The #24 team has opted to take the upcoming September 28-29 weekend off from racing competition. They will rejoin the World of Outlaws Late Model Series tour next Thursday, October 4 at the Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, New York. A $10,000 top prize will be on the line in the one-day affair, which is part of NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLI. Additional information on Rolling Wheels can be obtained by clicking on www.worldofoutlaws.com.
