Lucas Oil Late Model Series(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer and his #21 team celebrated in victory lane for the sixteenth time in 2012 last Thursday night, September 27 at the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa! After timing in nineteenth quickest during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and later winning his heat race, Billy rolled off from the inside of the second row in the 25-lap main event. The Batesville, Arkansas star then blasted past leader Shannon Babb on the eighth circuit and never looked back en route to the $7,000 triumph over Babb, Steve Francis, Brian Birkhofer, and Jimmy Mars!

Another $7,000 top prize was on the line in the 9th Annual ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals’ on Friday evening at Knoxville. Unfortunately, Billy’s night did not go as smoothly as the opener and he was unable to transfer into the 25-lapper. By virtue of his strong point night on Thursday, Billy earned the rights to the inside of the fifth row for the start of Saturday’s $40,000 to win crown jewel event. In front of a huge Knoxville crowd and the high-definition cameras of the Lucas Oil Production Studios, “Mr. Smooth” hung around the top ten throughout the 100-lap distance before winding up eighth in the final rundown. Complete results from the three-day extravaganza at the 1/2-mile Marion County speedplant can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

“We had a great start to our weekend on Thursday and we were fast right out of the box,” quoted Moyer this week. “The team put a lot of preparation into Knoxville and it was awesome to get another victory at that place. There is nothing quite like winning there and I am glad the Knoxville Late Model Nationals keeps growing and growing. As for the rest of the weekend, we had some problems on Friday night and then just didn’t get the car where it needed to be for the feature on Saturday.”

The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team will look for win number seventeen of the ’12 campaign on October 5-6 at the Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Mississippi. The 6th Annual ‘Gumbo Nationals’ will be held this upcoming weekend at Greenville and the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) biggie boasts a $7,500 winner’s check. Qualifying and heat races will be held on Friday night, while the consolation events and the A-Main are slated for Saturday evening.
