Lebanon MidwayLebanon, Mo.- While drivers and Speedway Officials kept the action going, Mother Nature captured part of the season ending Fall Brawl at the Lebanon Midway Speedway Saturday Night while 3 winners were crowned in the Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Midwest Modifieds while rain halted the action during the B Modified feature. The B modified feature along with the Factory Stock and A Modified features will be ran next Saturday evening October 20th.

In the Street Stock feature, defending Fall brawl Champion Melvin Smith was able to defend his title as he took the lead from Lebanon’s Brandon Henderson on lap 9 of the 15 lap event and held off a late charging Shawn Schmidt to grab the win.

Henderson and Smith brought the field to the green flag and Henderson quickly set a fast pace as Smith and Midway point champion Mark Simon followed. On lap 5, Smith from Buffalo closed-up the gap as Simon followed also. After a side by side battle, Smith placed his car to the lead as Simon moved around Henderson for second place. Smith began to pull away leaving Simon and Henderson to go door to door for the runner-up spot. With Smith leading by 5 car lengths, the battle for second would change on lap 11 as Henderson and Simon both made contact with Simon spinning around. both drivers had to g oto the rear as Shawn Schmidt now moved into second place. Schmidt would put on pressure the closing 2 laps, but Smith held on for the win as Bill Schoen charged to third from his 9th starting spot while Simon and Joe Francis completed the top 5.

2012 Midwest Modified track champion Sam Petty held off a very early challange from Travis Hill and then dominated the Midwest Modified feature. Hill and Billy Pearce stagged a great early battle for second place on lap 3 after Petty pulled away from Hill’s early threat. Hill and Pearce were sdie by side as Bennie Joiner started to join the pack on lap 5 after a couple of early cautions. The battle for second would end on lap 13 as Pearce was caught in a 3 car tangle. The green, white, checkered finish would find some good racing as it was all Petty tonight. Hill brought the runner-up money home as Joiner, Lebanon’s Keith Cheever and first time driver Adam Walker completed the top 5.

Lebanon’s Rob White, the 2012 Midway Pure Stock champion took the opening command from outside pole setter Tyler Schoen and never looked back in grabbing the win. Schoen and Ava’s Jack Hamer stagged a good battle early before Hamer took the runner-up spot on lap 3 following a caution flag. Hamer pulled away from Schoen and tried to close the ground on White while a 6 car race had drivers bunched-up for positions. White kept the quick pace on the field in taking the win as Hamer, Schoen, a last lap move by Adam Lowrance and Bo Alexstated completed the top 5.

The $1,000 to win B Modified feature suffered the weather delay as the field was under caution for a spin by Michael Stake on lap 7. Action was a plenty during the early laps as Lebanon’s Kris Jackson took the early lead with Jeremy Manes quickly in tow. Caution waved early as pole setter Brian Webster, Scott Crigler,Midway Champion Ted Ballinger all got together and started at the rear. TR Phillips moved into second place on lap 2 as Stake a former 2 time Midway Champion followed. Caution waved on lap 5 as 4 cars including Phillips got together. Lebanon’s Tony Fincher got caught-up on a frontstretch incident ending his chance for a possible top 5 finish. On the restart, Jackson had Manes still in hot pursuit as he overtook Stake for second place. On lap 7, Stake spun in turn 3 bringing out the caution. Just as the Green was about to come out, rain hit the track forcing officials to red flag the race and cancel the rest of the evening.

The Remaining 13 laps of the B Modified feature will be completed next Saturday evening October 20th with Jackson as the race leader and Manes in second place along with the $1,000 to win Factory Stock feature and the $500 to win, $100 to start A Modified feature. Any A Modifieds can compete and start tailback behind the cars that were on hand Saturday night.
