Vicksburg, MS (03/14/13) – Bub McCool piloted his #57J McCool Logging/Southern Belle/Schaeffer Oil/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $10,000 win in the 3rd Annual Pelican 100 on Saturday night.

After finishing second two years in a row Bub McCool finally claimed his first Pelican 100 victory on Saturday night in the third running of the event.

The $10,000-to-win, unsanctioned event attracted forty-seven Super Late Models to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana). McCool started his weekend by registering a lap of 14.234 seconds around the oval to earn top qualifier honors. Heat race action found him out-dueling Terry Phillips to score the win, which locked him into the pole for Saturday night’s 100 lap finale.

While McCool led a majority of the feature the win was far from easy as he had to fend off Chris Wall early in the event before battling Don O’Neal during the race’s mid-stages. Late in the event Bub began to battle mechanical issues as Billy Moyer moved into challenge for the top spot. McCool held on to score the win over Moyer, Phillips, O’Neal, and Wall.

“It was good to finally finish one spot higher at this joint,” an elated McCool commented in victory lane. “At the end something was going away in the motor, and I was just hanging on for dear life with Moyer back there. I have to thank Schaeffer Oil, and all of my great sponsors and fans for their support.”

Full results from the event are available at www.ArkLaTexSpeedway.com.
The upcoming weekend will see McCool Motorsports entering a single race as they travel to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) for a $2,500-to-win, Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) event on Saturday night.
