Comp Cams Super Dirt SeriesCorley, Texas (05/03/13) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Models made their debut at the brand-new, Timberline Speedway (Corley, Texas) on Friday evening, and it was who Robert Baker claimed the inaugural win at the facility.

Thirty-eight Super Late Models from six states entered the event, and via preliminary action Baker locked into the New Vision Graphics Pole Position for the 35 lap finale with Chandler Petty joining him on the front row. Baker grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag at the 3/8 mile oval with Petty, Ross Camponovo, Jeff Chanler, and Allen Murray in tow.

Unsettled weather from throughout the previous days took its toll on the track surface as passing quickly became difficult, and most drivers headed for the low side. The caution free event saw Baker go on to race to his second career CCSDS victory with Camponovo, Petty, Chanler, and Jon Kirby rounding out the top five.

The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger $100 bonus was claimed by Kyle Beard, who advanced from his twenty-second starting spot to an eighth place finish, while Kyle Beard was also awarded the Quarter Master Hard Luck Award for a mechanical failure in his heat race, while leading, that forced him to a back-up car for the feature. .

Ross Camponovo started heat race action with a win in GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 with Jeff Chanler winning the NEA Super Gas Heat Race #2. Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #3 was topped by Jon Kirby, while Chandler Petty won Racing Head Service Heat Race #4 and Allen Murray won COMP Cams Heat Race #5.

The triple Boston’s Sports Bar & Restaurants B-Mains were topped by Ray Moore, Jon Mitchell, and Odie Green.
