(May 15, 2013) Wheatland, MO – In a tune up for the weekend’s Lucas Oil Show Me 100 Presented by Protect the Harvest.com, Newport, Tennessee’s Jimmy Owens dominated the Lucas Oil MLRA main event Thursday evening. The triumph was worth $5,000, and is Owens fifth at the state of the art 3/8 mile oval. “We had a good car all night long,” said Owens. “We were able to capitalize off of a couple of guys mistakes in the heat race. It got us a good starting spot for the feature. They throwed the green and we was able to run high, low. The car was just awesome tonight.”

Tyler Reddick and Steve Shaver had quite a race for second and third, just a few paces behind Owens. Reddick moved around Shaver, after numerous laps neck and neck, and went on to secure the runner up spot. Shaver held on for third in his Bobby Labonte Racing Longhorn Chassis.

When it came to Lucas Oil MLRA series regulars there was a handful in the field, and Tony Jackson Jr did quite well. He passed five cars and finished fourth. The forty lap race was contested without a single caution.

Racing gets underway Friday at 7:30 PM with Time Trials, Heat Races, Manufactures Dash and Race of Champions. Saturday is also slated for a 7:30 PM start time, with last chance consolation races, Midwest Sheet Metal Show Me Challenge, USRA Modified Feature and the 100 lap $30,000 to win finale.
