Sunday night at Double X Speedway saw a large crowd in attendance for the first annual “Race For Riley”, Riley Hudson Memorial Race. Featuring four classes of cars in competition, the race fans had plenty of action to enjoy. The feature class for the night were the drivers of ULMA Late Models, young Riley’s favorite class of cars. 12 drivers signed in for competition at the track with Henley, Missouri driver Jason Russell claiming the victory in the feature event. Jason started alongside brother Justin for the feature event in the front row. Jason Russell took the lead on the opening lap and survived some early restarts to claim the checkered flag. Justin Russell ran a strong race to claim second, Earl Roark challenged the younger Russell but ultimately settled for third. Chris Cox claimed his best ULMA season finish of fourth at the stripe with Brandon Imhoff bringing home the third Russell racing car in fifth place. Craig Bessinger claimed sixth, Greg Clemons finished seventh, Todd McCoin eighth, Bob Cummings ninth and Bobby Penney ran tenth. Heat races were claimed by Jason Russell, Justin Russell and McCoin.

The Winged Sprint Cars were also featured on the card at Double X Sunday night and it looked like Tyler Blank would secure the victory but a mechanical issue ended the California, Mo drivers feature on lap 14. Bryan Grimes inherited the lead and help off challenges by Cody Baker in the closing laps to claim his second victory of the season at Double X. Following the lead duo under the checkered flag were Mitchell Moore in third, Randy Martin in fourth and Tyler Elliott in fifth. Taylor Walton, Lanny Carpenter, Curtis Evans, TJ Muths, and Casey Baker completed the top ten. Heat races were claimed by Blank and Grimes.

Pressing Welschmeyer the entire distance was point leader Derek Henson who finished second, Dale Berry was third, Andrew Roark was fourth and Riley’s uncle Curt Turpin claimed fifth. Completing the top ten were Brandon Dunham, Joe Miller, Troy Turley, Jay Lyle and Jerry Unger. Heat races were claimed by Lyle, John Clancy Jr., and Henson.
