EAST MOLINE, IL – August 18, 2013 – The 2013 racing season for Silvis’ Nate Beuseling has had its ups and downs. Beuseling hadn’t visited the winner’s circle at the Quad City Speedway in over three months but top five finishes throughout the season still had him sitting in second place in the Eriksen Chevrolet Buick IMCA Late Model point standings and within striking distance of point leader Todd Malmstrom.

In the 25 lap Eriksen Chevrolet Buick IMCA Late Model feature Beuseling wasted little time moving through the field and by lap 3 he was at the point. After a lap 4 caution, Beuseling would battle side by side with Malmstrom lap after lap until the final 5 laps. With 5 to go Beuseling would pull away from the field and take the checkered flag. Mike Zemo Jr. would get Malmstrom at the flag stand to take second. Rob Toland and Cory Goldbeck would complete the top 5. Heat winners were Zemo and Beuseling.

Andy Baugh still had the hot hand in the IMRA Midget Lites. Baugh would hold off an early challenge from Shane Morgan and pilot his 6B machine to victory lane. Andrew Genkinger charged through the field from his ninth starting spot to finish second followed by Jeff Mallonee, Dave Baugh, and Anthony Hansford. Heat winners were Gedd Ross and A. Baugh.

In the McDonald’s Mod Lites it looked like Shon Sanders’ win streak was over on two different occasions. Bryan Brinker had the lead until lap 6 and looked to be cruising to his first win in 2013 but a slip up coming out of turn four would send him to the back of the pack. Sanders looked to have in the bag from there until he nearly spun out in turn two but he was able to save it and hold off David Norton to keep his consecutive wins streak alive at seven. Norton would take second followed by Gary Snyder, Brad Lucy, and Brinker. Heat winners were Lucy and Sanders.

The Weber Auto Group Street Stocks 15 lap feature saw only one caution as Colona’s Chris Lawrence once again found himself in the winner’s circle. Lawrence would battle Rob Nylin neck and neck and with four laps to go he would take control of the lead. Nylin would cross the line second followed by Justin Yarolem, Perry Gellerstedt, and Chad Coyne. Heat winners were Jarett Franzen and Lawrence.

The Toppert Services UMP Modifieds had the crowd at the edge of their seat for their 20 lap feature with a race of the year candidate. Milo Veloz Jr. would battle pole setter Matt Werner at the drop of green until a flat tire ended Werner’s night. The last ten laps saw Veloz and Cody Bauman slicing and dicing for the lead with T.D. Burger right on their bumpers. The final fours laps saw lead changes on every lap. Veloz would make the last pass though collecting another “W”. C. Bauman would take second followed by Burger, Brock Bauman, and Richie Biswell. Heat winners were Veloz and Werner.

After a lap 4 caution in the 20 lap U-Pull-A-Part/Cimco IMCA Modifieds took out the leaders, the stage was set for Rock Island’s Doug Crampton. The #40 of Crampton prove to be too strong as he went on relatively untouched to collect his sixth win at QCS in 2013. Todd Dykema rallied from the 12th starting spot to take home second. Equally as impressive, Greg Durbin charged through the field after an early flat tire to take third. Craig Crawford and Kevin Goben rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Leland Bushong and Eric Barnes.

Aaron Hitt had his hands full in the 12 lap 4-Cylinder feature. Jon Scott, debuting his brand name car, and Zach Dahl gave Hitt everything he could handle lap after lap. Hitt would take the win though and strengthen his lead in the 4-Cylinder point standings. Scott crossed the line second followed by Dahl, Josh Sharpe, and Drew Wise. Heat winners were Dahl and Scott.

Racing continues next Sunday, August 25th, at the Quad City Speedway with Season Championship. Racing will be the Eriksen Chevrolet Buick IMCA Late Models, Toppert Services UMP Modifieds, U-Pull-A-Part/Cimco IMCA Modifieds, Weber Auto Group Street Stocks, and 4-Cylinders. Hot laps are at 5:15pm with racing to follow. Standard admission prices apply.
