Daughters captures first Iron Man Challenge win at Valley Speedway

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (Aug. 23) – Mason Daughters of Polo, Mo., captured his first Iron Man Challenge victory Thursday night in the 20-lap USRA B-Mod main event the Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo.
After trailing polesitter Jake Richards for the first four laps, Daughters maneuvered into the lead on lap 5 and remained there over the final 15 laps to bag the $500 top prize at the 3/8-mile clay oval.

Points leader Cory Crapser padded his advantage over second-place Dan Wheeler as the two finished second and third, respectively, with USRA B-Mod national points leader Troy Hovey finishing fourth while Richards held on for fifth.

Chad Staus, Dakota Foster, Curtis Berry, David Pierce and Jason Park rounded out the top 10.

Crapser continues to lead the Iron Man Challenge points for the USRA B-Mods over Wheeler, Jared Timmerman, Hovey, Foster, Jacob Bleess, Richards, Daughters, Steve Goodman and Shawn Strong.

The next Iron Man Challenge race for the USRA B-Mods takes place Friday night at the Lakeside Speedway, Kansas City, Kan., as they joined the USMTS Modifieds for the second night in a row.

Gates will open at 4:00, hot laps start at 7:00 and the night’s first heat race gets the green flag at 7:30. Local Factory Stocks will also be in action.

Adults grandstand tickets are $17, juniors ages 13-16 are $10, kids 6-12 are $5 and children ages 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $35.

The Lakeside Speedway is a 3/8-mile slightly-banked dirt oval located 1.0 mile west of I-435 (exit 18) on SR 5 (northwest of Kansas City, Kan.). The track hotline is 913-299-2040 or check out the track’s website at www.lakesidespeedway.net.
