Jeff Leka Lands in Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series Victory Lane at Farmer City

American Modified SeriesFarmer City, IL- August 30, 2013- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series kicked off its three-race Land of Lincoln Triple Shot on Friday evening at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL and Jeff Leka of Buffalo, IL would visit victory lane when all was said and done and picked up the $3,000 payday and his first-ever series victory in the seat of his Wiseman Salvage and Demolition/Byerline Garage/Accurate Towing/Pontiac RV sponsored #3L Bob Pierce Race Car powered by a Mullins Race Engine.

Front row starters Nick Allen and Jeff Leka would bring the 22 car star-studded field to the green flag and Leka would immediately jump to the race lead and would hold off the charges of Matt Mevert until the first caution flag appeared on lap 15. The double-file restart would see Mevert take the race lead at this point and lead until Leka would retake the lead from Mevert on lap 26. Leka would survive one final caution four laps from the finish and hold on to take the victory. Mevert would take runner-up honors after leading ten circuits in the contest, while Mike Chasteen, Jr. would finish third. Jeff Curl and current series points leader and 14th starting Bryan Barber would complete the top five at the end of the 35 lap event.

The remainder of the top ten finishers at the Farmer City Raceway Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series event Jacob Poel, Bobby Allen, 18th starting and hard charger winner Donovan Lodge, Brian Shaw, and 17th starting Chad Kinder. The 35 lap, $3,000 to win event would be slowed by two caution periods and take 20 minutes to complete.

In preliminary action, Lance Dehm would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among 42 entries at 14.170 seconds. Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Nick Allen, while Jeff Curl scored the win in Williams Precision Engine heat two. Hypercoils heat three went to Jeff Leka, with Matt Mevert winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four. The Wehrs Machine B-Mains were won by Chad Kinder and Donovan Lodge, while series provisional starting spots went to Ricky Tinch and Trent Young.

The Land of Lincoln Triple Shot tour continues tonight Saturday August 31 at Fairbury’s American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL with the Casey’s Modified Nationals. This event will pay $5,000 to win and $250 to start.
