Wheatland, MO (August 31st, 2013) – Saturday night there was a bit of apprehension of the unknown, as Brad Looney unloaded a brand new race car to compete for the first time. Without the benefit of any track time, the team was just hoping for a good night, but really had no idea what to expect in the Lucas Oil MLRA event at Lucas Oil Speedway. It was obvious from the drop of the green he was going to contend. Looney worked the top side of the race track and scored a convincing victory in a brand new Capital Race Car. It is his second ever win in Lucas Oil MLRA competition at Lucas Oil Speedway.

“It just kind of seemed like tonight everything just kind of fell together and went my way,” commented Looney. “You got good quality racers out there tonight, Terry Phillips, Tony Jackson. To keep them behind you puts a lot of confidence in yourself to go out and win again.”

Behind the #14 there was quite a race going on. Chad Simpson looked destined for a runner up finish, but his engine terminated five laps shy of the checkers. Simpson’s misfortune gave Terry Philips and Tony Jackson Jr second and third, where they finished. The two went back and forth several times throughout the forty lap feature.

Jackson was somewhat frustrated at the end of the night as he felt like a conservative setup cost him a chance at the win. “We just got caught up points racing,” said Jackson. “It’s what you shouldn’t do. Usually Vaught is really good here and he was so far back in the feature. It just seemed like the right thing to do, was to be conservative.”

Will Vaught ran right behind Jackson in fourth, so there will not be much of a difference in the points heading into the final two events at Lakeside Speedway in October.
