Lucas Oil SpeedwayWheatland, Missouri – September 22nd, 2013 – With a huge crowd on hand and nearly 130 cars in the pit area; Andy Bryant, Jason Pursley, J.D. Hubert, and Brian Schutt scored main event wins on the final 2013 Lucas Oil Speedway Weekly Championship Series night of the season. Kris Jackson, Schutt, Terry Schultz, and Jason Russell locked up the title of 2013 Track Champion. “There aren’t words to describe how proud I am of all of our racers on a great 2013 season.” commented Track General Manager Dan Robinson, “it has been so fun to watch all year long, I can hardly wait to get 2014 started!”

Brian Schutt put an exclamation point on his title of 2013 Carson’s Corner Napa Factory Stock Champion with a convincing win in the class on the final night of competition despite starting seventh on the grid. Sentimental favorite Chip Shaddox scored a strong second place finish after celebrating the birth of his first son, Cooper Ryan Shaddox on Thursday. Camdenton, Missouri’s Matt Miller charged from his eighth starting spot to finish in third while Craig Danuser and Ted Welschmeyer took fourth and fifth respectively. Heat Race Winners included Shaddox, Toby Ott, and Welschmeyer.

Fort Scott, Kansas’ youngster Andy Bryant, in only his second start ever at Lucas Oil Speedway topped an astounding 49-car field in the Tri-Lakes RV B-Mods to take the win after muscling Rex Merritt off the bottom groove during the late stages of the race. Bryant plans on competing weekly at LOS in 2014 and sent a strong message to the other competitors that he will be a force to be reckoned with for wins and for the championship. Merritt stayed glued to Bryant’s bumper the remainder of the way to finish second. Wheatland’s Mike Streigel led the field to green flag from the pole position but slid back to third at the finish. Gary Clark started fourth and finished fourth while 2013 Tri-Lakes RV B-Mod Track Champion Kris Jackson once again had to fight his way out of a B-Main charging from 18th to fifth at the finish. Michael Stake, Gregg Truelove, Bryant, Streigel, and Merritt all scored heat race wins earlier in the evening.

The ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models took to the track as the third main event of the evening and in the blink of an eye, Cross Timbers, Missouri’s J.D. Hubert took the win in a caution free 20 lap feature. Walnut Grove’s Jeremy Kelley paced the field early as he powered around the high side with Hubert down low but Hubert eventually proved to have the better car on the long green flag run crossing the AAA Start/Finish line ahead of Kelley who held on for second. Harrisonville, Missouri’s Ethan Young had a great run to finish in the third spot after starting in sixth. 2013 ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Model Track Champion, Jason Russell charged to fourth at the finish from his tenth starting spot. Mike Montague rounded out the top-5 as he raced his way all the way from fifteenth without the benefit of a caution flag. Hubert, Kelley, and Todd McCoin took heat race wins.

Hometown favorite Jason Pursley proved his mastery of the slick track to score his first Pitts Homes USRA Modified win of the season in Tom Campbell’s familiar #38 machine. Pursley led the field to the green flag from the pole position but it was no cake walk as he withstood a plethora of cautions and challengers before pulling away at the finish. Joplin, Missouri’s Mitch Keeter made a rare appearance at Lucas Oil Speedway and finished in the second spot after starting 13th. Jon Sheets continued his string of strong runs to finish in third. Jeff Cutshaw and John Allen finished fourth and fifth respectively. Terry Schultz locked up his first Lucas Oil Speedway Track Championship by virture of his seventh place feature finish. Heat race winners included Schultz, Allen, and Pursley.
