USRAKANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 4) – With heat races and “B” Mains in the books and a dangerous thunderstorm tracking toward the Lakeside Speedway Friday night, event officials let fans leave in time to get home safe and postponed the co-sanctioned USRA/USMTS Modified “A” Main to Saturday for the final day of the Sunflower Showdown presented by Kenny’s Tile.
The Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models had just begun their main event when a multi-car crash in the first turn brought out the red flag. At that time, officials made the call to postpone both feature races until Saturday.

Within 20 minutes of pulling the plug, Mother Nature unleashed a flurry of wind, rain and hail that may have struck the event in the middle of the race.

Saturday’s extended program will now kick off at 6:30 p.m. with the “A” Mains for the Modifieds and Late Models, followed by the originally scheduled complete program for the USRA/USMTS Modifieds and Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models.

Trevor Hunt and Matt Dotson are on the front row for the postponed Modified feature.

The top six in overall points for the Modifieds after the make-up features will once again be locked into Saturday’s main event to complete the 18 predetermined starters for the big dance. The Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models finish Friday night’s program off with a $3,000-to-win feature.

Saturday’s explosive finale will see another complete show for the fearless full-fendered division with a $5,000-to-win main event that will determine the 2013 Lucas Oil MLRA points champ. USRA Modifieds will compete in a series of Last Chance Races and preliminary main events before capping off the night with the $10,000-to-win, $1,000-to-start finale.

General admission tickets Saturday are $25 for adults (17 and older), $15 for juniors (ages 13-16) and $10 for kids (ages 6-12). Children ages 5 and under are admitted free in general admission. Reserved seats (all ages) are $30.

RacinDirt.TV will carry all of the action live online with flag-to-flag action of both divisions from start to finish. Saturday’s broadcast is $29.95. All major credit cards and PayPal are accepted. Visit www.RacinDirt.TV to witness it for yourself.

The Lakeside Speedway is a 1/2-mile slightly-banked dirt oval located 1.0 mile west of I-435 (exit 18) on SR 5 (northwest of Kansas City, Kan.). The track hotline is 913-299-2040 or check out the track’s website at www.lakesidespeedway.net.
