NDRL - National Dirt Racing LeagueSarver, PA (October 26, 2013) Alex Ferree continued his dominance at Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway with his fourth straight win at the track and closing out the 2013 NDRL’s United Late Model Series season finale $3000 to win event. Smethport’s, Steve Dixon had already wrapped up the 2013 NDRL’s United Emod Series title heading into the final weekend, Dixon completely dominated the 20 lap event capturing his 6th UEMS win of the season and 12th total to close out the season.

Russ King and Brian Swartzlander paced the NDRL’s ULMS Late Model field for the final event of the season. King jump into the lead with John Garvin sliding into second when the first two yellows were thrown on the opening two laps. Lap three would see heavy contact between Jared Miley and fifth place running Matt Lux, who received left front fender damage but was able to keep running at speed. By lap five the eyes were focused on sixth place starter, Alex Ferree who now was second and closing in fast on King. Another pair of caution flags slowed the pace, then on the lap seven restart, Ferree would become the new leader.

As the event continued to click off laps and ten to go, it was evident that Ferree was the car to beat but the battle for second was taking place between King and Garvin. With five laps to go the yellow lights came back out for John Struble who spun in front of the cars of King and Garvin. The restart saw Ferree get a great start on King and Garvin only to see the lights flash again on lap 21. The lap 21 restart would see the wild pack of cars chase after Ferree into turn one and King went for it all and lost it all when his car jumped the cushion in turns one and two ending his shot at getting Ferree. Garvin would take second at that point and hold onto that position to the end over Miley, Swartzlander and Matt Lux rounding out the top five.

The NDRL’s UEMS Emods final event of the season saw Jonathan Taylor going for his fourth straight win and Vic Vena on the front row. As soon as the green was thrown, fifth place starter and 2013 series champion, Steve Dixon rocketed into turn one to make it three wide for the lead only to see the yellow lights for a three car incident behind them. The restart saw the same exact thing with Dixon and this time coming out of turn two, the three wide battle was quickly decided by Dixon’s #68 machine rolling into the top spot. At the line it was Dixon, Vena, Taylor, Deana Groves and Mike McGee your top five. Groves would make her impressive run into second by the third lap but only to see it all go away in turn two the next lap when she brought out the yellow.

The top five was Dixon, Jonathan Taylor, Vena, Evan Taylor and 2012 series champion, Carl McKinney. A series of yellows took place and by the eighth lap, Dixon was pulling away from Vena as the Taylor brothers had their family feud going on for third. A the halfway point, Dixon had built a straightaway lead over Vena, with the Taylor boys, McKinney and 2011 champion Joel Watson now in fifth from his 18th starting spot! A lap 12 yellow would bunch of the field, but Dixon again would just rocket away on the restart on each of the next three cautions and by lap 15 Dixon was comfortably in front of the Taylor boys, Vena, McKinney, Watson and Deana Groves was back up to sixth!. Laps 16 and 17 saw changes in position as the Taylor brothers were battling for the runner up spot while McKinney put Vena back to fifth as those two drivers along with Groves, Greg Beach and Watson all battled for the fourth spot. As Dixon was out in front taking the checkered flag the yellow lights had to be thrown before the remaining field of cars crossed as a spun car in turn one pulled out in front of race winner Dixon almost causing a post-race incident. Finishing behind Dixon would be Jonathan Taylor, Evan Taylor, Carl McKinney, Vic Vena, Mike Kinney, Deana Groves, Joel Watson, Michael McGee and Jeremy Double was tenth.
