Springfield, MO (November 30th, 2013) – Jesse Stovall started on the pole and held off the challenges of Terry Phillips and Tony Jackson, Jr. for the entire distance to take the victory at the 2013 Turkey Bowl at Springfield Raceway. Stovall was behind the wheel of a Victory Circle Race Car, which was announced earlier this week that he would become their new house car driver. Phillips and Jackson (who was debuting his new Club 29 Race Cars chassis) had a fierce battle for second and third for most of the event until Jackson had a right rear tire go flat late in the race. Brandon McCormick and Justin Asplin were also battling side by side in the closing laps for the third and fourth spots.
Terry Phillips and Jesse Stovall also had battled for the win in the Modified feature event with Phillips coming out on top. Phillips got the lead from Jackie Dalton on lap three and led the rest of the way including lap 4 which had a $500 bonus for leading in honor of the late Mike Clark (DirtWorks Chassis founder). Stovall would work his way up through a mid pack starting spot to take second late in the race and challenge Phillips for the win after a late caution. But Phillips would prove too strong and get the win. Stovall would cross the line second with Jamie Ragland third, Dalton fourth and Jim Body fifth. Montgomery City’s Chris Spalding had a great top five going until a right rear flat in the closing laps ended his night.
The B-Mod feature was probably the most exciting race of the night as many different drivers took their turn at the top spot and they raced two and three wide throughout the field for the entire race. Shawn Strong would come out on top with Gene Sisko taking second.
