(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. captured his second feature win of the young 2014 racing season on Saturday evening, March 29 in the 3rd Annual ‘Thaw Brawl’ at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois! After Mother Nature took home the win in Friday’s $2,000 to win weekend opener, Dennis and twenty-eight other competitors converged on the 1/4-mile bullring on Saturday for the ‘Thaw Brawl’ finale. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace started his night by clicking off the second quickest lap in his group during qualifying, which put him on the outside of the front row for the start of his heat race.

Following a convincing heat race triumph, Dennis drew the outside of the front row once again for the start of the 75-lap ‘Thaw Brawl.’ He immediately took the lead at the drop of the green flag and paced the stellar field through the rough track conditions caused by the harsh Illinois Winter. When the dust had settled at LaSalle Speedway, Dennis had led each of the 75 circuits to collect the hefty $15,000 payday over Bobby Pierce, Ryan Unzicker, Scott Bloomquist, and Jason Riggs. Full results from this UMP DIRTcar Series and American Late Model Series battle can be accessed by clicking on www.lasallespeedway.com.

“It was a war of attrition out there and fortunately everything held together on our car and we were able to get a big win,” stated Erb, Jr. earlier this week via telephone. “Everyone knew it was going to be tough to get a smooth track surface with all of the snow, ice, rain, and cold weather that we have had this Winter, but I have to thank the Izzo’s and everyone at LaSalle Speedway for doing everything they could to put on the best show possible. It was good to start out front and stay out front in the feature because it gave you the best chance to keep out of trouble and hit the holes the right way. I have always enjoyed racing at LaSalle because it is so close to home and you get to race in front of a lot of fans and supporters, so it was nice to be able to put forth a strong showing for them!”

Following the huge win, the Dennis Erb Racing team will turn their focus back to points racing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, as a trio of $10,000 to win showdowns will be held in the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Oklahoma from April 4-6. Dennis and the rest of the LOLMDS stars will invade Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, Mississippi on Friday, Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, Louisiana on Saturday, and Outlaw Motorsports Park in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Sunday. Dennis comes into the triple shot of racing action this weekend eleventh in the current version of the LOLMDS points, but only 15 markers out of the top ten.
