MLRA(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team returned to Dirt Late Model competition over the April 11-12 weekend in the inaugural ‘Spring Nationals’ at the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. The Lucas Oil MLRA Series presided over the pair of weekend showdowns and a strong field of cars were on hand for the two-race weekend. On Friday night, Jimmy Mars ran third in his heat race, which locked him into the inside of the fifth row for the start of the $2,000 to win feature event. During the course of the caution-free 30-lapper, Jimmy was able to pass six competitors on his way to a sterling third place performance behind only winner Jesse Stovall and runner-up Terry Phillips.

At Wheatland on Saturday evening, a $3,000 top prize was on the line in the MLRA ‘Spring Nationals’ finale. Jimmy once again ran third in heat race action and later started the 40-lap main event from the outside of the fifth row. The Menomonie, Wisconsin star then worked his way past four cars in the A-Main to claim a respectable sixth place effort. Full results from the doubleheader weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway can be accessed by pointing your web browser to www.mlraracing.com.

Jimmy and his #28 team will now turn their attention to a pair of MARS DIRTcar Series and Corn Belt Clash co-sanctioned events in the Hawkeye State of Iowa on April 18-19. On Friday night, the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa will play host to a $3,500 to win program, while 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa will headline the doubleheader on Saturday evening with the 6th Annual ‘Slocum 50.’ The 50-lap feature at Burlington boasts a $10,555 winner’s check – the largest first place prize in 34 Raceway history.
