Pontoon Beach, IL (April 18th, 2014) Beautiful weather brought out a huge crowd for the Dueces Wild event at Tri-City Speedway and they witnessed some spectacular racing including a late model feature that was one for the ages.

In the UMP Late Model main event, Tim Manville jumped out to the early lead and then faced a barrage of challenges from Brian Shirley and Dennis Erb, Jr. early on in the event. Then Bobby Pierce would get through traffic to join the battle for the top spot. Those four drivers would swap the lead around for several laps before Erb and Pierce would get away from the others and settle it between themselves. Pierce would get the lead exiting turn two from Erb on lap twenty five, but Erb would fight back and regain the lead in turns three and four. Erb would get a little distance between him and Pierce at that point, but Pierce would reel Erb back in swipe the lead again on lap twenty eight and wouldn’t relinquish it again. Erb would finish a close second with Shannon Babb taking third. Randy Korte came on strong in the later laps to finish fourth from his eleventh place starting spot. Brian Shirley would round out the top five.

The UMP Modified shaped up early on to be spectacular battle for the lead and Dean Hoffman and Ray Walsh battled side by side for the lead for the first eight laps with Matt Mevert all over their rear bumpers. Mevert would take Hoffman and Walsh three-wide on lap nine and drive past both of them using the high side to take the lead. Mevert would then pull away to win the thirty lap feature that went caution free by nearly a half track lead. The battle for second would continue as Timmy Hill and Michael Long moved in to battle Hoffman in the last half of the feature event. Hoffman would hang on for second with Hill taking third, Long fourth and Ray Walsh fifth.
