(Warrensburg, MO) After a two-year hiatus, the highly anticipated reopening of Central Missouri Speedway takes place this Saturday, April 26, featuring ‘Mighty Modifieds, B-Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Pure Stocks. This weekend’s featured guest class is the Impact Signs, Awnings and Wraps WAR-Wingless Auto Racing sprint series, marking their first-ever appearance at CMS.

Pit gates open at 4:30 pm; grandstands open for race fans at 5:00. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for Seniors 65 and over and Active Duty Military w/ID, $5 for kids 6-10, children age 5 and are free; anyone permanently confined to a wheelchair also receives free grandstand admission.

Over the years CMS became known as the ‘Home of the Mighty Modifieds’ and for good reason; 19-year promoters Earl and Susan Walls have hosted well over 30 “big-money” modified special events.

This year is no exception to that rule as CMS will host race teams and fans during all three big summer holiday weekends, beginning with a $3,000-to-win event Memorial Day Weekend, a whopping $5,000-to-win Independence Day Weekend BBQ Bowl, and closing out the year with another $3,000-to-win event on Labor Day Weekend!

CMS received the exciting news late Wednesday afternoon from the United States Racing Association, that its weekly ‘Mighty Modified’ program was approved to be USRA sanctioned for the 2014 season. When the opportunity to go USRA came up earlier in the week, CMS promoter Earl Walls simply stated, “Let’s do it!”

“We are very excited to partner with Central Missouri Speedway, and welcome their staff, drivers and fans to the USRA family,” said Lon Oelke, Director of Growth & Partnerships for the USRA. “As an organization, we pride ourselves on being loyal to the owner-operators of those racetracks that trust the USRA as their sanctioning partner. For that reason, we were unable to approve a sanction for CMS several months ago because of the proximity to another USRA-sanctioned track. Earlier this week, however, that track dropped the Modified division from their Saturday line-up, which reopened the opportunity to showcase the USRA Modifieds to the fans in and around Warrensburg.”

The decision is a win/win situation for modified drivers in the geographical area competing not only for the $1,000-to-win weekly payout but also highly sought-after USRA championship points. For more information, visit www.usraracing.com.

Track staff and volunteers have tirelessly worked long hours over the last several months to restore the facilities, racing surface, and grounds. While general work and upgrade maintenance continues, fans won’t be disappointed when they see the cars return to racing at the “Burg” on Saturday night.

This is the final week for anyone wishing to purchase Season Passes. Passes include all 21 race events scheduled for the year and may be purchased on-site from Susan Walls at the track. Adult passes $215, Military w/I.D. and Senior Citizens 65+ passes $160, and Kids passes for those aged six to twelve $100.
