Sunoco ALMS(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his Iron Motorsports team celebrated in victory lane for the first time in 2014 on Friday evening, May 2 in a rare visit to Tri-City Motor Speedway in Auburn, Michigan! After the ‘Southern 100’ was cancelled at Southern Ohio Speedway, the #55 team loaded up for Tri-City to compete in the track’s season opening event. Jeep won his heat race in preliminary action, which lined him up starting from the outside of the front row in the A-Main. The Pinconning, Michigan native then dominated the feature to claim the $1,055 payday in the weekly show over Kris Patterson, Jr. and Alex Hupert. Complete results from Tri-City Motor Speedway can be accessed by pointing your web browser to www.tricityracetrack.com.

“It felt good to get a win last Friday at Tri-City Motor Speedway,” quoted Van Wormer earlier this week. “We had every intention of going to Southern Ohio Speedway, but then when they canceled, we wanted to go somewhere and race. The next few weeks are going to be busy at work and I will be traveling out of town, so everyone on the team really wanted to go somewhere before we took a little time off. Everything worked really well at Tri-City, as I won the heat race and then set sail from the outside of the front row in the feature. I have to thank everyone that is associated with the Iron Motorsports team – especially my mom and dad, family, crew, and sponsors!”

With Jeep enduring a hectic work schedule the next few weeks, the #55 team is slated to enjoy the next two weekends away from the racetrack. The next event that Jeep has committed to is a $2,000 to win American Late Model Series (ALMS) battle at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Sunday, May 25. This show will be the final tune-up before the $100,000 ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ weekend at the “Big E” on June 5-7. Additional information on the ‘Johnny Appleseed Classic’ on May 25 can be obtained by visiting www.eldoraspeedway.com.
