Monett, MO (May 25, 2014) – Terry Phillips of Springfield, MO picked up his third MARS win of the 2014 season and increased his career wins with the MARS DIRTcar Series to 85 at Monett Speedway for the 14th annual Tony Roper Memorial.

Phillips earned the most passing points from the heat races to sit on the pole for the 40 lap feature race. Phillips led the first 25 laps of the caution plagued feature before surrendering the lead to defending MARS champion, Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, MO on a lap 25 restart. Jackson stretched out his lead over Phillips over the next 10 laps. Jackson then started entering lap traffic allowing Phillips to close the gap. After taking the white flag Phillips was right behind Jackson entering turn one and two, Jackson drove into the corner to hard, allowing Phillips to drive underneath him and take the lead. Phillips would take the checkered flag and the $3,000 payday that went with it. Jackson would settle for second.

Jack Sullivan of Greenbriar, AR; Justin Asplin of Birch Tree, MO and Jacob Magee of Caney, KS rounded out the top five.

Heat race winners were Phillips, Jackson and Brandon McCormick of Lebanon, MO.
