(May 25, 2014) – Quincy Raceways hosted the Midwest Open Wheel Association Sprint Car Series presented by Casey’s General Stores for its third consecutive night of racing action, Sunday, and the fans were not disappointed.

For the third time this season Jerrod Hull found himself in victory lane. He’s the only the driver on the series that has more than one feature win in 2014. Still, as the MOWA Sprint Car Series presented by Casey’s General Stores heads toward the mid-point of the season, Hull is not the point leader.

Much like the rest of the season, Sunday was another example of just how consistent Joey Moughan has been when it comes to the 2014 season with the series.

While Hull was dominate all night long, winning the dash and the feature event, Joey Moughan didn’t make the dash and had to start eighth in the feature.

From the drop of the green Hull was only really challenged briefly on restarts, as Korey Weyant, who ran second most of the race, had lapped cars between he and the race leader on all but one of the three re-starts.

The excitement for the fans proved to come in the form of Moughan making a late charge from fourth to second in the closing laps.

Moughan followed his uncle, Jim Moughan, for much of the race but final went high with a handful of laps remaining. He then caught Weyant with two laps left and passed him on the final lap to take the runner-up spot.

Weyant held on for third, but didn’t take time to interview after the race, he instead went straight to the pits, took the wing off and started at the back of the WAR non-wing race. He went on to come from 19th to finish second in that event as well.

Paul Nienhiser, who started third, spun in turn three on the first lap, tipping Jimmy Light. Nienhiser went to the back of the field and mad a steady charge, eventually finishing fourth. Light was out of the race.

Chris Urish, who started ninth, had a sold run as well, rounding out the top five.

Joe B. Miller was the hard charger, as he started 13th and finished sixth. Logan Faucon also passed seven cars, but finished eighth.

After the race, and points shook out, Joey Moughan still leads Hull by six points. A.J. Bruns, who is third in points, survived a pair of incidents in the feature to salvage a 10th place finish.

The MOWA Sprint Car Series presented by Casey’s General Stores is off for nearly a month, as it prepares for its first ever Indiana weekend.

The series travels to Bloomington Speedway, Bloomington, Ind., Friday, June 20. The next night, it makes its second stop in as many years at Tri-State Speedway, Haubstadt, Ind., June 21.
