By Jeff Hall(Peoria, IL) Rodney Sanders from Happy, TX made the long haul to Peoria Speedway pay off as he led flag-to-flag in winning the “Apex Roofing Memorial Day Modified Special” at Peoria Speedway Monday night.

Sanders survived 8 caution periods and a 2 hour rain delay to pocket the $3,000 first prize, making a mid-race line switch to hold off Peoria driver Erik Bruce.
Sanders ran the bottom of the track for the first half of the race, but Bruce and Quincy driver Michael Long were closing the gap on the high side. After the last caution period, Sanders adjusted his line and started running the top of the track. As Bruce and Long battled over the last 12 laps, Sanders pulled away for the win, with Bruce ending up 2nd, followed by Long, Kenny Wallace and Nathan Balenseifen.

Jim Carmody held off a charging Steve Shannon for the Steel Block Late Model win. Eddie Wolf won the $1,000 Street Stock feature.
