Summit Modified NationalsMore than $50,000 in awards to be distributed to series competitors

CONCORD, N.C. – June 3, 2014 – The DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals continues growing, and in 2014 the series boasts a $35,000 contingency program in just its fourth year of existence. More than $50,000 will be distributed to competitors during the course of the series and at the January awards Banquet.

“I’m ecstatic for the contingency program we have to offer the DIRTcar Summit Racing Modified Nationals in 2014,” said Alex Cummings, DIRTcar Client Services Manager. “I personally want to thank each and every partner of this great series for their contributions and continued support. Without the amazing partners of this series, we wouldn’t be able to do what we are doing now and have all 22 starting positions in the A-main, plus the Fastest Qualifier at each race, receiving an award.”

The series will have its largest contingency program to date with 32 companies partnering to contribute more than $50,000 in gift cards and product. On a nightly basis, drivers will be competing for $880 in gift cards and $310 in product at each of the 30 events. At the series banquet in January, more than $14,000 in product will be given to drivers who compete in the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals.

“The Summit Racing Modified Nationals are the highlight of not only my season but all of us as UMP Modified drivers,” said Steven Brooks. “For 6 weeks, we get to race with the best modified drivers in the country night in and night out. The series is set up to allow grassroots weekly racers the opportunity to compete on a national level with consist formats each night, outstanding contingency awards and really good payouts. It’s awesome to have the support of Summit Racing Equipment and all of the series sponsors. I feel that we’ve just scratched the surface for how big this series can become.”

Beginning Saturday, June 7, at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., the DIRTcar Summit Racing Modified Nationals begins a 4,431 mile trek across the Midwest making 30 stops at 28 different tracks in 42 days. The 30 races make the 2014 year the largest in the series history with the champion taking home $5,000.

“The drivers in the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals absolutely love this series because we have such an outstanding contingency program that rewards all of our 22 A-Main positions,” said Sam Driggers, DIRTcar Competition Director. “It’s incredible to see such tremendous support of this series from so many companies. It’s greatly appreciated.”

What makes this series so unique is that DIRTcar takes each driver’s best eight finishes and averages out those points to determine a champion. It’s known as a working man’s series, 30 races across the Midwest where drivers can pick and choose to compete and still be eligible for a points championship.

“This series is a racer’s dream and it’s my favorite time of the year because every day is Saturday for over a month,” said Kenny Wallace, the 2012 Summit Racing Modified Nationals champion. “When we won the 2012 Summer Nationals championship it was a highlight in my racing career and I am excited and ready to go for it again in 2014. As my dear friend Dale Earnhardt used to say ‘Drop the Rag, Lets race.'”
