DIRTcar Summer Nationals(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer, of Batesville, Arkansas, recorded his record-tying 83rd career UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals triumph in the series opener last Thursday night, June 12 at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois! After setting fast time of the 31 entrants during the qualifying session, Billy won his heat race and later drew the pole position for the 40-lap feature. “Mr. Smooth” then grabbed the point from his son Billy Moyer, Jr. on lap nine and dominated the remainder of the show to claim the $5,000 win over Ryan Unzicker, Brian Shirley, Rick Eckert, and Mike Spatola. The victory marked Billy’s unprecedented eighth Summer Nationals win at the Kankakee County fairgrounds oval!

Following a nearly eight hour overnight trek to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin, Billy competed in night one of the 16th Annual ‘Masters’ weekend last Friday evening. Billy clicked off the second fastest lap in Group A during qualifying and later scored the win in heat race action. After starting the $5,000 to win feature from the inside of the second row, Billy was a fixture towards the front of the field during the 40-lapper and eventually settled for a fifth place performance. The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer crossed underneath the checkers at CLS behind only winner Rick Eckert, Bobby Pierce, Rodney Sanders, and Brian Birkhofer.

Saturday’s ‘Masters’ finale at Cedar Lake Speedway was unfortunately washed out due to heavy rain showers and the $10,000 to win program will not be rescheduled. Complete results from these “Hell Tour” races can be accessed by pointing your web browser to www.thehelltour.com.

“We have had a lot of fun and success over the years at Kankakee and I always enjoy racing at that place,” quoted Moyer yesterday while working on his equipment. “I was real pleased with how our Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn car performed there and the car was pretty decent at Cedar Lake as well. That is one of the reasons why we chose to go out on the Summer Nationals deal for a while, so we could put this new car on a bunch of different tracks with different race conditions each night and get some good notes. As long as everything keeps going well, we plan to stay out on the road this week and race four or five more times with them!”

The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team will rejoin the grueling UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour tonight, June 17 in the Hawkeye State, as a $10,000 top prize will be on the line at Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa. From there, the #21 team will snake through the state of Illinois, as they plan to enter at least three more series events in the Land of Lincoln on Wednesday through Friday, June 18-20. You can view Billy’s upcoming race schedule below:
