For the first time in two years the Lucas Cattle Company ULMA is gearing up for the return of the Triple Crown Shootout (TCS) this year presented by RacinDIrt.com! The TCS is a three-night event for ULMA that always produces great racing on three-consecutive nights of action at three separated tracks.

The 2014 TCS takes place around the Independence Day weekend of racing beginning on Thursday, July 3 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO, which will be hosting a $1,000-to-win track special for the late models. The Friday event takes place at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO on July 4. The TCS wraps up Saturday night July 5 in Moberly, MO at Randolph County Raceway during the track’s $750-to-win late model track special.

Bonus money is on the line for drivers this weekend. ULMA wishes to thank RacinDirt.com for presenting the TCS. The driver entry does not include such things as pit passes or track registration Drivers will earn points for the TCS from competing in the three scheduled Triple Crown events.

Only ULMA members entered into the Triple Crown Shootout are eligible for bonus money, trophies, and contingency items. A separate point-earning scheme will determine the overall point champion for this three-race event. All events award regular ULMA championship points to all participants.

At Lucas Oil Speedway and Randolph County Raceway, drivers will be asked to help in collecting funds for Homes for Our Troops. ULMA has been a proud supporter of this outstanding organization for the last several years and helped raise over $1,000 last year for the organization. The Homes for Our Troops organization is strongly committed to helping those who have selflessly given to our country and have returned home with serious injuries since September 11, 2001 by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and to coordinate the process of building a specially adapted home that provides maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.

Last Friday at Callaway Raceway, recent newlywed Chris Lapp raced to his first victory of the season after recently returning to racing. It was Lapp’s first ULMA victory since August of 2012. Zeke Langley too command of the first heat race of the night over Chris Cox, Ashley Lancaster, and Ryan Peterscheim while Lapp scored the victory in heat race number two ahead of Todd McCoin, Larry Winn, and Gage Wineland.

For the main event, Langley and Lapp started in positions one and two with Lapp quickly taking command of the event at the drop of the initial green flag while Langley held strong in second. By lap five, Wineland advanced from his seventh-starting position to fifth in a heated battle between McCoin and Cox. At lap 9, Lapp began to check out on the field with Langley and Wineland left to battle for second.

Wineland moved to second position by lap 12 with Langley third, Cox fourth, and McCoin fifth. On lap 17, McCoin got too high in turn three as the yellow flag flew over the field, setting up a three-lap dash to the finish. On the final restart, Wineland tried to close in on Lapp for the win but Lapp denied the challenge and went on to claim victory. Wineland finished second, followed to the line by Langley, Cox, Peterscheim, McCoin, Winn, and Lancaster.
