World of Outlaws Late Model Series(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Two-time ‘Firecracker 100’ winner Jimmy Mars ventured east to the storied Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania from June 26-28 for the eighth version of the three-day mega-event, which was once again sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Things kicked off at Lernerville with a pair of $6,000 to win preliminary events. On Thursday night, Jimmy narrowly missed out on the 30-lap feature after finishing fifth in his heat race and third in his B-Main. The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace then ran second in his heat race and advanced up to fourth in the 30-lapper on Friday evening to finish behind only winner Jimmy Owens, Scott Bloomquist, and Tim McCreadie.

The ‘Firecracker 100’ weekend then concluded on Saturday evening and all eyes were fixated on the hefty $30,000 winner’s check. By virtue of Friday’s strong run, Jimmy started on the front row of his heat race and brought home a strong runner-up effort behind only heat winner Kent Robinson. After drawing the inside of the second row prior to the drop of the green flag in the 100-lap ‘Firecracker 100,’ Jimmy found himself inside of the top five virtually the entire distance. When the rain hit the Keystone State speedplant with only ten laps remaining, the driver known as “The Iceman” was in the fifth spot to finish the shortened race behind only victor Darrell Lanigan, Scott Bloomquist, John Blankenship, and Dale McDowell. Full results from Lernerville Speedway can be accessed online at www.woolms.com.

Jimmy and the Mars Racing team have opted to enjoy the upcoming 4th of July holiday weekend away from the racetrack and will instead start gearing up for the annual World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Wild West Tour.’ The four-race week with the Outlaws will take place from July 10-18 in the states of Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota. All four shows at Hibbing Raceway in Hibbing, Minnesota, Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota, Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota are slated to pay $10,000 to the winner. Additional information on the ‘Wild West Tour’ can be viewed online by pointing your web browser to www.woolms.com.
