CALVERT CITY, Ky. – For the third time in three appearances at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway, Matt Mevert dominated the Modified feature Saturday night to claim big prize money.

The Steeleville, Ill., driver outran Nick Hoffman and added to the victories he scored on June 14 and June 28 in races that paid $3,000 to win. Saturday night’s win paid $4,000.

Other winners on the program included Tim Brown, who won for the second week in a row in Late Model; Jeff Walston in Pro (Crate) Late Model; and Mike Hodges in Stock Car.

Mevert started on the outside on the second of the second row and moved to the front when Bryce Jewell, who started in front of Mevert on the outside of the front row, spun between Turns 1-2, triggering a chain-reaction crash that brought out an immediate yellow flag.

When the race resumed, Mevert moved ahead and although Hoffman nipped at his heels, he was never seriously challenged. Mevert won by 0.281 seconds, with third-place Tyler Nicely more than 4 seconds behind. Everett Bradham and Matt Cooper rounded out the top five.

Forty-one cars were on hand for the race, with 30 cars taking the green flag for the 35-lap feature.

Brown won a Late Model main that was cut short at 14 laps from a scheduled 20 after a crash took out early leader Randy Sellars and left only two cars from a starting field of five.

Sellars led the first 13 laps and was in front when the yellow came out for a blown right rear tire on the third-place car of Jarryd Holshouser. During the caution period, Sellars also suffered a flat right rear and headed to the pits for a replacement.

When the race resumed, Sellars charged after Brown into Turn 1 but hit the outside wall, disabling his car.

Sellars was listed second, as the only car on the lead lap, and Holshouser was third.

Fourth went to the Crate Late Model of Matt Filkins, who was lapped by Sellars on the 12th circuit. Clayton Miller was fifth.

In the Crate feature, Walston – who won four features in the first six race programs of the year at KLMS – returned to victory lane and joined Tanner English (Late Model) and Trent Young (Modified) as a five-time winer. Jeff Glisson, Troy English, Ricky Waggoner and Dillon White were second through fifth.

Hodges took command on lap 7 and sped to his fourth Stock Car win of the season and third in the last four weeks. Kassidi Gibbs led from the pole in a fierce battle with Joe Hamm and Ryan Humphrey, with Hamm taking the lead on lap 5. Hodges moved to second the next time around and passed Hamm for first place a lap later.

Hamm, Mike Lentz, Tya Cunningham and Humphrey rounded out the top five.
