Heading into the final stretch of the 2014 Lucas Cattle Company season, Dwight Niehoff of Lockwood, Missouri is the current leader in the championship standings. Niehoff, in his first full season of ULMA competition, is a recent High Performance Motorsports University of Northwestern Ohio graduate.

So far in the season, Niehoff has a trio of ULMA victories to his credit, the first being in mid-April at Lucas Oil Speedway. His second and third victories came in back-to-back weeks when he captured July wins at Central Missouri Speedway and Callaway Raceway. Niehoff has nine top-three finishes and currently sits four points in front of former leader Chris Cox of Jefferson City, Missouri. Niehoff has accumulated 19 starts on the year in which his primary home-track has been Lucas Oil Speedway.

Cox, who has one win to his credit at Lucas Oil Speedway, sits securely in the second position and is right in the thick of the championship battle. Last year’s ULMA Rookie of the Year, Payton Looney of Republic, Missouri, sits in third tied with Ashland, Missouri’s Zeke Langley. Jake Williams, also in the championship mix, currently resides in fifth position. So far this season, 19 different drivers have claimed victories with former champion Vance Wilson leading the wins category with six.

Last week’s lone race scheduled at Callaway Raceway was cancelled due to wet conditions, marking a rare off-weekend for the entire Lucas Cattle Company ULMA contingent of drivers. This weekend, racing returns full-steam ahead with events planned for Friday at Callaway Raceway and Saturday at both Lucas Oil Speedway and Randolph County Raceway.

The final weekend of racing this year takes place Friday night at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri with gates opening at 5, hot laps at 7, and racing at 7:30; for more information visit www.callawayraceways.com or call 573-592-7795 or 573-642-6580 for details.

Racing returns to Randolph County Raceway (RCR) on Saturday night. Counting this weekend, there are three regularly scheduled events remaining at RCR. For more information, visit www.randolphcountyraceway.com or call the track Phone at 660-833-1727.

ULMA action is also set to resume this week in Wheatland, Missouri at Lucas Oil Speedway. Counting this weekend, there are four ULMA events remaining at the speedway this season. For more information point your browser to www.lucasoilspeedway.com for information or call (417) 282-5984.
