Grain Valley, MO (September 12, 2014)- Three seasons ago when the WAR Series presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps had its inaugural race at Valley Speedway, JD Black was the winner. On Friday night, the Grain Valley driver was victorious again with a strong performance during the annual Weld Family Memorial.

It was also a special evening as driver Brent Fasse organized a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project and money was raised for this great cause. All WAR drivers also sported Wounded Warrior stickers on their cars in support.

Point leader Chris Parkinson took the lead from his outside front row starting position as he was followed by Wyatt Burks and Black.

The lead trio would continue this way for the first six laps. On lap seven, Burks put a slide job in turn two on Parkinson for the lead with Parkinson turning back under Burks to retake the lead down the backstretch. Burks again pulled a slide job in turns three and four, but Parkinson again turned back under to retake the lead down the front stretch.

Over the next three laps, Parkinson continued to lead with Burks remaining within striking distance. Black, fast-qualifier Casey Shuman and Chad Goff were also in the hunt.
On lap eleven, Burks attempted a slide job in turns three and four. The duo made contact with Burks sliding to a stop in turn four.

Parkinson led again on the restart as he was followed by Black, Shuman, Goff, and Cody Baker. Black made his move on lap thirteen as he got by Parkinson in turn two. Black steadily increased his lead as Shuman and Goff started to put pressure on Parkinson for the second spot.

Shuman’s run would come to an end on lap twenty-two when his car came to a stop in turn two.

On the restart, Black was followed by Parkinson, Goff, Dylan Kadous, and Baker. Kadous was putting heavy pressure on Goff for the third spot over the last handful of laps with both just behind Parkinson.

Black would go on to the checkered flag in his MC Electric/Sage Fruit/S&S Electric Twister with Parker 305 power. In turn four, Goff made a last ditch effort for the second spot with a slide job on Parkinson. As Goff slid high and tried to regain his momentum, Parkinson moved back under to run second in his 54th Street Grill and Bar/Country Kids Daycare/Ozark Barge and Dock DRC with Elam Machine power. Kadous also was able to move under Goff as he finished a close third in the RHR Motorsports/Bully Brand Brackets Avenger with Gaerte power. Goff was fourth in his B&D Racing/Country Kids Daycare/Midwest Specialty Flooring DRC with Kercher-Mopar power. Josh Stephens charged from the sixteenth starting spot in the Summers Farms/Stephens Automotive DRC with Gaerte power to round out the top five. Baker was sixth as he was followed by Tony Rost. Ricky Lee Stangl, Taylor Walton, and Chad Tye rounded out the top ten.

Heat races for the thirty-two car field were won by Shuman, Black, Tyler Blank, and Kadous. Todd McVay was victorious in the B Main.

The WAR Series presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will next be in action at the annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO on September 26 and 27. Each race will pay $1000 to win.
