Quincy, IL (September 21, 2014) – On what was a beautiful late summer night in Quincy, the MOWA Sprint Car Series presented by Casey’s General Store made their 3rd and final appearance of the 2o14 season to the 1/4 mile high banked Quincy Raceways. 27 cars signed in to race, with a stout field. This set up three 10 lap heat races to be contested at The Broadway Bullring.

Heat 1 would see Jim Moughan would lead lap 1 but Bil Balog would
waste little time getting to the top spot getting it 1 lap later.
Paul Nienhiser would end up battling briefly with Moughan, with Nienhiser making the pass.

Heat 1: 17B Bill Balog, 9 Paul Nienhiser, 1M Jim Moughan, 44 A.J.
Bruns, 51 Joe B. Miller, 22T Bret Tripplett, 83H Russ Hall, 84 Ben Wagoner, 19 Bobby Weuve

Heat 2 would see some great racing. Early in the heat Matt Harms lead, but just past halfway Korey Weyant dropped the hammer and made a power move in turn 3 and came off of 4 with the lead. However, Joey Moughan in the 17M was RIGHT behind the 99 of Weyant. With 2 to go, Joey made his move into 1 and got by on the backstretch. Joey went on to win the heat race. This was the high point of his night unfortunately because as Joey took the checkers, the motor went up in a huge cloud of smoke.

Heat 2: 17M Joey Moughan, 99W Korey Weyant, 35 Jimmy Hurley, 24 Terry McCarl, 53H Matt Harms, 10S Jeremy Standridge, 6B Andy Baugh, 4B Tom Busch, 5W Caleb Wankel

Heat 3 would see 3 time and defending MOWA Sprint Car Series presented by Casey’s General Store champion Jerrod Hull, who won the first stop of 2014 at Quincy back on May 25th, hold off the most recent winner at Quincy on July 6th, Chris Urish..

Heat 3: 12H Jerrod Hull, 77U Chris Urish, 7KX Ryan Bunton, 10K Robbie Standridge, 52F Logan Faucon, 75 Trent Beckinger, 25 Levi Curry, 59 Jake Glasgow, 82W Vinny Ward

The 6 lap Fast Dash would see Bill Balog take an early lead, but Jimmy Hurley flexed his muscles and showed he was going to be a force to be reckoned with, and went by the 17B for the win.

Dash: 35 Jimmy Hurley, 17B Bill Balog, 12H Jerrod Hull, 77U Chris Urish, 99W Korey Weyant, 17M Joey Moughan(DNS)

The 12 lap B Main would take 5 cars to the feature as a result of Joey Moughan scratching for the evening with his motor issue. 11 cars were scheduled to take to the track, and all of them answered the call and went clean and green. Here is how things went.

B Main: 22T Brett Tripplett, 53H Matt Harms, 83H Russ Hall, 6B Andy Baugh, 84 Ben Wagoner, 25 Levi Curry, 4B Tom Busch, 5W Caleb Wankel,
19 Bobby Weuve, 59 Jake Glasgow, 82W Vinny Ward

The 25 lap feature event would be led to the green by Hurley and
Balog. The green flew and Jimmy Hurley jumped out to the early lead.
Bill Balog was on his tail. 2 laps into the 25 lap event working on
lap 3 Balog made contact with the 35, sending both cars spinning.
Balog did a 360 and never stopped while Hurley’s car came to a stop facing the wrong way in turn 2, bringing out the 1st caution of the event. Balog would assume the lead on the restart. Not too much later Jerrod Hull was by Chris Urish for the runner up spot. On lap 4, the 10S of Jeremy Standridge went up over the turn 3 banking and went tumbling a few times, bringing out the only red flag of the evening. Jeremy was okay after this incident. On the restart, Balog would open up a sizeable lead on the field. Urish would get back up to the 2nd spot just around the halfway point. The 2nd yellow flag of the event would fly for AJ Bruns making contact with the guardrail coming off of turn 2 on lap 13. The restart would see Balog lead, but Urish struck a lap later and made what would be the winning move
taking the lead for good on lap 15. Traffic would be a factor in the
closing stages until Balog came to a stop with 2 laps remaining in turn 2. Urish would get a great restart and go on to claim his 2nd MOWA Sprint Car Series presented by Casey’s General Store feature win of his career, which was also his 2nd in a row at Quincy Raceways.

A Main: 77U Chris Urish, 12H Jerrod Hull, 24 Terry McCarl, 9 Paul Nienhiser, 7KX Ryan Bunton, 35 Jimmy Hurley, 22T Bret Tripplett, 83H Russ Hall, 51B Joe B. Miller, 17B Bill Balog, 75 Trent Beckinger, 53H Matt Harms, 99W Korey Weyant, 1M Jim Moughan, 10K Robbie Standridge,
44 A.J. Bruns, 6B Andy Baugh, 52F Logan Faucon, 84 Ben Wagoner, 10S Jeremy Standridge
