(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer recently returned stateside this week from a trip Down Under, which was no doubt an enjoyable experience both on and off the racetrack. Jeep was one of four American visitors, as he joined fellow countrymen Steve Francis, Devin Moran, and George Lee in Western Australia. The Pinconning, Michigan ace piloted the USA #55 Rocket Chassis out of the Oldfield Racing stable. A total of four USA Invasion Tour races were held at as many different facilities from January 16-25.

While Jeep was kept out of victory lane this trip Down Under, he ran up front each night and accumulated four podium efforts, including three runner-up performances. In the opener on Friday, January 16 at Collie Speedway, Jeep was battling for the lead when he smacked the wall hard and faded to a third place finish behind only winner Steve Francis and runner-up Jamie Oldfield. He then enjoyed three straight runner-up outings behind Francis to close out the USA Invasion Tour at Bunbury Speedway, Albany Speedway, and Manjimup Speedway.

By virtue of his consistent showing throughout the four-race stint in Western Australia, Jeep was awarded second place in the final USA Invasion Tour point standings behind champion Steve Francis. You can view a race-by-race recap from all four dirt ovals by clicking on www.JeepVanWormer.com.

“We had a great time down there – as usual – and I can’t thank the Oldfield’s and all of our other great friends down there enough for their hospitality,” quoted Van Wormer earlier this week upon his arrival back in Michigan. “I had a fast racecar in all four races, but just wasn’t able to put it in victory lane. Steve (Francis) was good no doubt, but I think we had a shot at a couple of those races if things would have shook out differently. The first night at Collie I got into the wall while battling for the lead and then at Albany, we led a little bit early in the feature and Francis got a jump on a restart before the track rubbered up. I would have loved to have won another race down there, but we were consistently fast throughout the trip and a huge thank you goes to the Oldfield’s and everyone else that turned a wrench on our racecar!”

Now back stateside, Jeep is unsure of when he will unload his own #55 Iron Motorsports machine for the first time. He will scour over schedules in the upcoming weeks and put together a slate of events of his own to post at www.JeepVanWormer.com. The only thing Jeep will commit to at this time is entering most, if not all, of the 2015 events at the hallowed grounds of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
