American-Modified-SeriesMaryville, TN- March 28, 2015- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series completed the month of March at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville with the Tennessee RV Supercenter Spring Nationals and Nick Stroupe of Iron Station, NC would snatch the lead away from Clayton Miller with three laps remaining and score the $3,000 payday on Saturday evening.

Stroupe would claim the $3,000 victory in the seat of the Mike Stroupe owned Big A Custom Graphics/AED Competition Fuel Systems/TJ’s Motorsports Warehouse sponsored #45 Elite Chassis, powered by a KS Engineering Race Engine.  The victory by Stroupe made him the 29th different winner in the history of the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series.

Clayton Miller would win the opening lap duel with Matt Cooper to claim the lead at the start of the event, with Cooper, Keith Smith, Nick Stroupe, and Paul Miles giving chase.  Miller and Cooper quickly pulled away from the field, but a spin by Blake Terry on lap 3 would slow the pace.  Back underway, Miller and Cooper would resume their battle, while Stroupe would work by Keith Smith for third.  Caution would wave again on lap 5 when Terry would again spin in turn one and collect Tony Spoon as well.  This restart would only get to turn one as Cooper and Stroupe would make contact entering the corner and Cooper would end up stopped against the outside retaining wall and would be done for the night.   Miller and Stroupe would now be the lead duo and would pull away from third place Keith Smith, with Stroupe closing right in on Miller when the final caution appeared on lap 19 as Cody Smith sat spun in turn two.  The next several laps would see Miller and Stroupe again drive away from the field and catch slower traffic and Stroupe would use a lapped car as a pick and drive by Miller off of turn four and take the lead on lap 33.  Stroupe would see the checkered flag first over Miller, followed by Keith Smith, 14th place starter Tyler Nicely, and Paul Miles..

The remainder of the top ten at the completion of the Tennessee RV Supercenter Spring Nationals would be Amos Bunch, Cody Smith, Ricky Tinch, Josh Harris, and Mark Lamont.  The 35 lap, $3,000 to win event would be slowed by four caution periods.

In preliminary action, Nick Stroupe would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among a field of 15 entries at 17.779 seconds.  Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Matt Cooper, while Clayton Miller scored the win in Wiles Driveshafts heat two.

The next event for the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will be on Saturday April 18 as the tour makes its first-ever appearance at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, KY.  The event will be 40 laps in distance and pay $4,000 to win and $250 to start and will start 30 cars.
