American-Modified-SeriesBloomington, IN-April 24, 2015- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series made its annual visit to the historic Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN on Friday evening for the 2nd Annual J.B. Robinson Memorial event and it would be the son of the man the event is named for, Kent Robinson of Bloomington, IN, picking up the $2,000 payday and more importantly a win in his father’s memorial event. Robinson would see the checkered flags fly first aboard the Jones Oil Company/Propane Direct/JB’s Salvage sponsored #85 Elite Chassis powered by a SPEC Race Engine. The win by Robinson was his first career victory with the tour and makes him the 30th different winner in series history. Robinson also became the fourth different winner in four series events so far in 2015.

Brian Shaw would lead the first nine circuits until the third caution of the event waved, while the restart would see Devin Gilpin’s machine suffer mechanical issues and knot up the field and keep the event under caution. Robinson would make what would turn out to be the winning pass on the second attempt to restart the race on lap 9 and take the lead on lap 10 and never look back to claim the event victory. Tyler Nicely would eventually take the second position from Shaw, who would finish in third. Mark Lamont and Clayton Miller would complete the top five.

The remainder of the top ten at the completion of the 2nd Annual J.B. Robinson Memorial A-Main would be Jacoby Hines, 17th starting Roy Bruce, Jr., Jeff Curl, Josh Harris, and Matt Cooper. The 30 lap, $2,000 to win event would be slowed by five caution periods.

In preliminary action, Josh Harris was the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among 27 entries with a new track record at 12.518 seconds, with the top ten qualifiers breaking the existing Modified track record. Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Mark Lamont, while Devin Gilpin scored the win in Wiles Driveshafts heat two. Hypercoils heat three went to Brian Shaw, with Kent Robinson winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four. The Out-Pace Racing Products B-Main went to Roy Bruce, Jr., while Jay Humphrey and Brad Barrow were series provisional starters.

The next events for the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will be a doubleheader on Friday May 15 and Saturday May 16 at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, KY. The Friday May 15 event will pay $2,000 to win, while the Saturday May 16 contest will pay $4,000 to win.
