tri-state-speedway Haubstadt, IN – May 3, 2015 – His feature victory Sunday night placed World of Outlaw driver Paul McMahan in victory lane at Tri-State Speedway for the second year in a row. The Tennessee driver turned in a commendable performance as he pursed leader Brady Bacon in and out of traffic from lap 13 until lap 32. He then sized the opportunity on a restart to pass Bacon to claim the victory. It was his second so far this year in World of Outlaws competition. The
40 lap feature paid $10,000 to win.

He was emotional in addressing a packed house! “This place has been so good to me. Brady had an awesome race car. I had one shot at him. We lost a motor yesterday but our team came back to win a race today.”
Bacon was looking for his second victory at the speedway this season.

He was the winner opening night in a USAC-MSCS non-wing event.

Bacon had a last opportunity with a restart that was needed with 37 laps completed. “Paul was just better than us on restarts!”

Joey Saldana finished third followed by WoO points leader Donny Schatz and Kraig Kinser. Schatz became a factor later in the race after starting 20th. He gained 16 positions to claim the KSE Racing Hard Charger Award. Kinser pressured both in an effort to gain another spot. The second five consisted of Brad Sweet, Brad Loyet, Jason Sides, Gary Taylor, and Paul May.

The feature was subject to a number of caution or red flag periods.

Twenty five cars started the race. Rico Abrue was one of the drivers with an upside down car. He ran out of racing room overtaking traffic while battling for the lead. Another red flag was needed when several cars got together in turn four on a restart and Chad Kenemah’s car was upended.

Preliminary action included qualifications, four heats, a dash, and a last chance race. Shane Stewart led all 38 qualifiers with a 12.037 second lap. The heat race winners were McMahan, A.J. Bruns, Bacon, and WoO newcomer Aaron Reutzel. Joey Saldana won the eight car, 6 lap dash and the pole for the feature. Shane Stewart took the last chance race.

In UMP Open Wheel Modified action the 25 lap feature wasn’t decided until the last corner. Trent Young took possession of the lead as Dustin Beck collected the fourth turn wall with the checkers in sight. Beck had a very fast car and had lead throughout. A late race spin in the first turn brought about a restart and drivers were suddenly racing 2 and 3 wide. Josh Harris and Grant Hagan crossed the line next followed by Matt Lane and Dave Beck. Lane made substantial gains after being involved in a four car incident on lap 14 and needing to restart at the tail of the field.

The UMP heat races were taken by Dave Beck, Dustin Beck, and Zach Fair. Shawn Cates won the 12 lap B Main.

The next race at Tri-State Speedway will be the Memorial Weekend Classic on May 24th. That Sunday program will feature MSCS non-wing sprints, MMSA mini sprints, and the UMP modifieds. The sprint car portion of the program will also be a scheduled stop for the King of Indiana Sprint Series.
