Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Ready for Spring Shootout at Oshkosh and LaSalle

Lucas-Oil-Late-Model-SeriesWAYCROSS, GA (May 11th, 2015) The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series resumes competition with their inaugural visit to Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Friday, May 15th. The series’ first-ever event, in the state of Wisconsin, kicks off with a double-header weekend for the Lucas Oil “Spring Shootout,” at LaSalle Speedway, in LaSalle, Illinois, on Saturday, May 16th.

A strong contingent of local and regional drivers will battle it out with the nation’s top dirt late model talents for over $80,000 in total prize money. Both events include an action packed show of: Hot Laps, Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and a $10,000-to-win, 50-lap main event. Joining the LOLMDS in competition each night are Modifieds and Street Stocks.

Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tennessee will return as the defending champion of the “Spring Shootout” at LaSalle Speedway. In 2014, Owens overtook Jared Landers on the 37th circuit, after a thrilling side-by-side battle around the 1/4-mile oval. Trailing Owens and Landers to the finish line were Scott Bloomquist, Earl Pearson Jr., and Don O’Neal.

Earl Pearson Jr. leads the stable of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series stars into the “Spring Shootout” with a 30 point lead in the championship standings. Jonathan Davenport and Jimmy Owens are currently tied for second, followed by Don O’Neal and Devin Moran, rounding out the top five. Sixth through tenth include: Scott Bloomquist, Eddie Carrier Jr., Brandon Sheppard, Steve Francis, and Dennis Erb Jr. Brandon Sheppard leads the Rookie of the Year chase, ahead of Chris Brown.

LaSalle Speedway has partnered with Schimmer Ford and 96.5 The Wolf for a LIVE radio show at Schimmer Ford, on Saturday, May 16th, from 11am – 1pm. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series star, Eddie Carrier Jr. will have his #28 OPTIMA Batteries/Grover Motorsports car on display and will be signing autographs during the show. Schimmer Ford is located at 911 Shooting Park Road in Peru, Illinois, just minutes from LaSalle Speedway.
