Lucas Cattle Company ULMA drivers were washed out on Friday at Callaway Raceway; however, when a new day dawned on Saturday, all eyes turned to Lucas Oil Speedway, which was but one of a handful of tracks able to host its weekly racing program when wet weather once again plagued the Midwest.

By the end of the night, defending ULMA Champion Jon Binning came away with his second victory of the season and 24th career ULMA win. However, it was not an easy road to traverse in returning to victory lane for Binning and crew as the last few weeks presented several mechanical gremlins and challenges to simply keep his #65 Rocket chassis race ready.

Binning started fifth in the 20-lap ULMA main event and looked to be on his way to a solid runner-up finish until later in the event when he moved to the top side of the track and found the groove he needed to track down and overtake race-long leader and previous Lucas Oil Speedway winner Justin Russell.

Binning posted consistently faster laps using the high line and reeled in Russell who stayed glued to the low side of the track. Russell settled for second at the finish line with Kenny Mudd, who started tenth in the event working his way to third at the finish. Former track champion Tommy Cordray settled for fourth while David Melloway came away fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 of the 21-car field were new ULMA Point’s Leader Todd McCoin of Barnett, Missouri followed by Cody Holtcamp, Ethan Young, twenty-first start Dwight Niehoff, and Chris Cox. Lucas Oil Speedway hosts the annual Show-Me 100 weekend over the Memorial Day holiday from Thursday through Saturday. ULMA action at the track resumes on Saturday, June 6. For complete details regarding the speedway and the Show-Me 100 be sure to visit www.lucasoilspeedway.com.

Wet weather and rain-soaked grounds again led to the cancellation of events at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri. The track will try yet again this weekend to host another round of weekly racing on Friday, May 22. Friday’s event kicks off a planned three-day weekend for ULMA competitors. For more information and race program details visit www.callawayraceways.net.

On Saturday night May 23, ULMA racing moves north to Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Missouri as the track returns to action with the WAR Sprint Car series along with ULMA Late Models, USRA B-Mods, Hobby Stocks, and Sport 4-Cylinders. Racing is set to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday evening. Jon Melloway drove to victory a few weeks back in ULMA action at the track. For more information on RCR’s Memorial Day Weekend plans visit www.randolphcountyraceway.com.

On Sunday, May 24 ULMA action return to Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, Missouri. There are no driver registrations or entry fees for competitors other than the purchase of a driver’s pit pass. The track is hosting its annual two-day Memorial Day weekend special on Saturday and Sunday with USRA Modifieds, USRA B-mods, Street Stocks, Lightning Sprints, Allstar Midgets, and Pure Stocks competing throughout the weekend. For Memorial Day weekend plans at CMS including admission prices, start times, and event details visit www.centralmissourispeedway.net.

Todd McCoin currently leads the Lucas Cattle Company ULMA standings with a 16-point lead over Hallsville, Missouri’s Jon Melloway. Dwight Niehoff holds down the third position with Gage Wineland and Chris Cox also claiming spots inside the top five.
