show-me-100-2015.jpg(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 team traveled to Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Friday evening, May 15 for a $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series shootout. Jimmy laid down the sixth fastest lap in Group A during the qualifying session and later finished second in heat race action. After starting the 50-lap headliner from the inside of the fourth row, Jimmy steadily moved up through the talented field and took the second spot from Dennis Erb, Jr. on the final circuit. The Menomonie, Wisconsin pilot nabbed an impressive runner-up showing in front of his home state fans, as he trailed only winner Earl Pearson, Jr. at the checkers.

Saturday’s LOLMDS stop at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois, which was also scheduled to pay $10,000 to the winner, was thwarted early in the day by inclement weather. Complete results from Friday’s visit to Oshkosh can be accessed by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

The Mars Racing team will now turn their focus to a huge Memorial Day holiday weekend with high-profile races in the states of Missouri and Illinois. Up first will be the 23rd edition of the ‘Show-Me 100’ at the pristine Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on May 21-23. The ‘Cowboy Classic,’ which will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil MLRA Series, will kick things off later tonight, May 21 and a $5,045 top prize has been established. Preliminary action for the ‘Show-Me 100’ will then take place on Friday night, while the consolation races and the 100-lap Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series crown jewel event are slated for Saturday evening at Wheatland. A $30,000 winner’s check will be on the line in the ‘Show-Me 100,’ while each feature starter will receive at least $1,500.

On Sunday, May 24, the dirt-slinging action will quickly shift to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois for the annual running of the ‘Budweiser 50.’ The UMP Super Late Models will run at the St. Louis-area oval for a $10,000 windfall. A complete show comprised of qualifying, heat races, consolation events, and a 50-lap main event will wrap up the hectic holiday weekend for the #28 team.
