Despite a wet and unsettled weather pattern seemingly overtaking the Memorial Day holiday, Lucas Cattle Company ULMA drivers were able to compete in two of three planned events. Both Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Missouri and Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri hosted drivers over the weekend.

At Callaway Raceway, 16 drivers checked in for the Late Model portion of the program. Three weeks had past since Callaway was last able to hold its races due to consecutive rainouts. Former Callaway Raceway track champion Payton Looney of Republic, Missouri became the second driver this year to win at least two ULMA events. Looney last took his car to victory lane at Callaway on May 1st, his latest win was his eighth career ULMA score.

Looney fought off 2010 Lucas Cattle Company ULMA Champion Vance Wilson for the win, which went down to the wire. Behind Looney and Wilson inside the top five were Tood McCoin of Barnett, Missouri; Dwight Niehoff of Neosho, Missouri; and Dustin Hodges of nearby Fulton, Missouri.

ULMA Late Models are off this Friday at the raceway, which is holding a track special event for one of its other classes. ULMA racing resumes at Callaway Raceway on Friday, June 5th. For complete information and track details visit www.callawayraceways.com. The track is located at 7419 County Road 405 in Fulton, Misouri. Call 573-592-7795 or 573-642-6580 for raceday information.

Randolph County Raceway (RCR) in Moberly, Missouri hosted ULMA drivers for a second time this season and when the evening concluded it was Winfield, Missouri driver Kenny Mudd who found himself in the winner’s circle. The win was Mudd’s fifth-career ULMA victory. Behind Mudd at the line were Lancaster, Missouri’s Chris Smyser; David Melloway of Columbia, Missouri; Jon Melloway of Hallsville, Missouri; and John Ketterer of Marthasville, Missouri.

This week, RCR hosts the Lucas Cattle Company ULMA drivers during a special event on Friday, May 29. Highlighting the evening is the newly formed National Sprint League (NSL), which marks its first-ever appearance at the high-banked speed plant. Joining the NSL and ULMA cars are the USRA B-Mods.

Ticket prices are $25 for adults, kids aged 6 to 14 are $10, children five and under are free. Pit gates are scheduled to open at 2 p.m. followed by grandstand admission beginning at 5. Hot Laps begin at 7 with racing to follow at 7:30. RCR is located at 4081 US-24 in Moberly, Missouri. On race day, the Track Phone number is 660-833-1727. Be sure to visit RCR online at www.randolphcountyraceway.com.

Although wet weather forced the cancellation of last Sunday’s planned event at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, Missouri, ULMA drivers have another shot this Saturday, May 30th to compete at the track when ULMA action returns. This week marks the second appearance of ULMA at CMS this year, earlier in the season Jon Binning claimed a CMS victory. CMS recently acquired new and revised track equipment as the track preparation crew has put numerous hours into making the surface fast and smooth for drivers.

At CMS, pit gates open at 4:30 followed by grandstand admission beginning at 5. Driver pill draw closes at 6:15 (no passing points awarded if late check-in), driver’s meeting/lineups posted at 6:30, hot laps roll out at 7 followed by racing at 7:30. General admission is $12, seniors 65 and over and military w/I.D. $10. Kids ages six to 12 are $5, children five and under are free. All pit passes at CMS are $30. There are NO TRACK REGISTRATION FEES at CMS, ULMA drivers only pay pit passes to compete.

Central Missouri Speedway is located just off of US Highway 13, three-and-a-half miles north of Warrensburg, Misouri. The exact location is 5 NE County Road V, Warrensburg, MO 64093. The race day track phone number is 660-747-2166, or the office may be reached Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 816-229-1338.

Front stretch grandstand parking is located directly off of Hwy 13. Back stretch and pit parking is located on the east side of the speedway. For Saturday, May 30th, ULMA joins the CMS regular weekly race program that features a swift-moving night of action with USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Lightning Sprints, B-Mods, and Pure Stocks. For complete information visit www.centralmissourispeedway.net.

After a hugely successful first two days of the annual Show-Me 100 weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway (LOS) in Wheatland, Missouri, the track was forced to postpone the rest of the competition until July 12th due to the extremely wet holiday weekend. The hard-working staff at LOS will enjoy a much-deserved break this Saturday, but ULMA racing will return to the speedway on Saturday, June 6th. Be sure to visit the state-of-the-art facility online at www.lucasoilspeedway.com.
