DIRTcar-logo(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Teammates Brian Shirley and Jason Riggs both plan to take the upcoming May 29-30 weekend off from dirt-slinging action, as their focus is solely set on the 21st Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ presented by Ferris Commercial Mowers. The hallowed high banks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio will play host to the three-day crown jewel extravaganza from June 4-6.

The ‘Dirt Late Model Dream,’ which will be sanctioned by the UMP DIRTcar Series, is the richest Dirt Late Model race in the world with a whopping $100,000 going to the winner of Saturday night’s 100-lap feature event. A total purse of $306,625 is available for the three nights of racing, which will kick off with Twin 25 main events on both Thursday and Friday. Additional information on the “Big E” can be accessed by clicking on www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Both Riggs Motorsports chauffeurs were in competition in the states of Illinois and Missouri over the hectic Memorial Day weekend (May 21-24). Jason Riggs started his weekend last Friday at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois in a regular weekly show. After running second in his heat race and fifth in the dash, Jason moved up to second in the $1,200 to win main event before eventually settling for a sixth place performance. In a $1,500 to win showdown on Saturday evening at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri, Jason finished third in his heat race and twelfth in the A-Main.

Brian Shirley, on the other hand, ventured west to the immaculate Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri to compete in the 23rd edition of the ‘Show-Me 100.’ After unfortunately missing out on the $5,045 to win ‘Cowboy Classic’ feature event on Thursday, Brian rebounded in a big way on Friday night during preliminary action for the ‘Show-Me 100.’ The Chatham, Illinois star clicked off the third fastest lap in Group A during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying prior to picking up an impressive heat race triumph over Jared Landers, Don O’Neal, and Eddie Carrier, Jr. The ‘Show-Me 100’ headliner, which was scheduled to boast a hefty $30,000 payday, was unfortunately washed out on Saturday and postponed until Sunday, July 12.

On Sunday, May 24, both drivers converged on Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, as the St. Louis-area facility played host to the annual running of the ‘Budweiser 50.’ Jason posted the third quickest time in his group during the UMP qualifying session and later ran second in his heat race. The Harrisburg, Illinois native was then scheduled to start fifth on the grid in the $10,000 to win affair, but inclement weather rolled in before the 50-lap feature. Brian was caught up in a wreck during preliminary action and had already left the speedway before the rain hit.
