By Jimmy Dearing — Pontoon Beach, IL (June 5th, 2015) Tri-City Speedway was finally able to out duel Mother Nature and get a great night of racing action completed. Michael Kloos would out gun Jim Shereck and Scott Weber to win the UMP DIRTcar Late Model feature event. Shereck jumped out front at the drop of the green flag and led the first six circuits before Kloos made a move on the high side past Shereck for the lead. Kloos and Shereck would continue to battle for the next several laps before Kloos opened up a small lead. Scott Weber then moved in to challenge Shereck for the second spot. Those two would battle for several laps before a late caution would reset the field. On the restart, Kloos would continue to lead while Weber used the high side to get past Shereck for the second spot. At the checkered flag it would be Kloos over Weber then Shereck, Billy Laycock and Kolby Vandenbergh would round out the top five.

Michael Long was the man of the hour in the UMP DIRTcar Modified division. Long found himself having mechanical problems in his qualifying heat race and he would retire early in the heat. Long would bounce back and win the last chance qualifying semi feature to give him a nineteenth starting spot in the main event. Rick Stevenson, Dave Wietholder and Dean Hoffman would battle the top spot early on the main event while a solid field of cars that had tough luck in the heat races tried to work their way to the front. Mike Harrison’s charge to the front would end early on with mechanical issues as would Kenny Wallace’s run. Dean Hoffman would suffer over heating problems and pull in as well around the half way mark. Meanwhile, Long was charging to the front and joined Stevenson and Wietholder in a battle for the lead with six laps remaining. Long would make quick work of those two and takeover the lead and pull away to the win. Stevenson would get the second spot with Wietholder taking third. Rusty Griffaw overcame a tough break in his heat race to finish fourth. Danny Ems would round out the top five.

A solid field of twenty-nine B-Modifieds were on hand to compete. The twenty-two car starting field would run the entire fifteen lap main event caution free. However, the race would end with the first and second place cars tangling with a lapped sending both spinning down the front stretch as they crossed the line to take the checkered flag. Ryan Middaugh led every lap and picked up the win, but he would spin across the line and hit the inside retaining wall hard. He was alright and celebrated his first ever feature win at Tri-City Speedway. John Stanton would finish second. He would also be involved in the melee on the last lap, but he was able to avoid and hard contact as he spun across the line. Jeff Yates would finish third with Josh Russell taking fourth. Danny Ems would grab the fifth spot.

Tony Walker once again grabbed the Street Stock feature win. He led all fifteen laps but got a serious challenge for the lead over the final five laps from A.J. Cline. Cline was able to pull along side Walker on several occasions for the top spot, but Walker was able to hold him off and grab the victory. Cline would finish second with Dale Bohnenstiehl taking third. Bohnenstiehl started shotgun on the field after racing to Tri-City Speedway to start tailback after the track he was at had rained out. Jason Walsh would finish fourth with Ricky Smith completing the top five.

Sean McCarty took another Sport Compact feature win. He held off the challenges of Rickey Carriker and Dallas Lugge to get the win. Carriker would take second, Lugge third, Cole Queathem fourth and Justin Hall fifth.
