DIRTcar Summer Nationals(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing spent the June 18-20 weekend in the Southeast with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, as the national touring series sanctioned a trio of $10,000 to win programs. Things kicked off last Thursday night at Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Dennis Erb, Jr. timed in sixteenth fastest during the qualifying session, which locked him directly into the outside of the eighth row for the start of the main event. During the course of the 50-lapper, which paid show up points only due to adverse track conditions, Dennis retired early and wound up nineteenth in the final finishing order.

On Friday evening, the annual running of the ‘Grassy Smith Memorial’ took place at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina. Dennis ran sixth in heat race action, but was able to blast past nine competitors during the 50-lap headliner on his way to a solid seventh place effort. The tripleheader weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee and another $10,000 top prize was on the line in the ‘Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic.’ Dennis finished fifth in his heat race and second in his B-Main prior to passing ten cars during the 50-lap feature en route to a respectable tenth place showing.

The Carpentersville, Illinois standout is now up to sixth in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings following the triple shot of racing action last weekend in the Southeast. Full results from all three battles can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Following a day off to travel back to the Land of Lincoln, the #28 team will jump right back into competition this week with the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour. Dennis plans to enter seven straight “Hell Tour” throwdowns in the states of Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri from June 22-28. The dirt-slinging action will start later tonight at Quincy Raceway in Quincy, Illinois. Below is Dennis’ schedule for this upcoming week:
