Lucas Oil SpeedwayWHEATLAND, MO (June 28th, 2015) – On a Chamber of Commerce type summer evening with unseasonably mild temps and nearly 100 cars in the pits at Lucas Oil Speedway, Logan Martin doubled down to take top honors in both the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds and the USRA B-Mods. Kenny Carroll cruised to the win in the Carson’s Corner Napa Factory Stocks while Jon Binning captured the win in the ALPS Food Store ULMA Late Models.

The first feature event of the evening was the 20-lap Carson’s Corner Napa Factory Stock main with Kenny Carroll and Shawn Whitman leading the field to the green flag from the front row. Carroll once again had his Josh Franklin Motorsports machine dialed in as he jumped out to the lead early on and cruised to his third feature win of 2015. Wheatland’s Chip Shaddox charged from fifth to second at the finish. Republic, Missouri’s Bobby Barnett had his best run of 2015 to cross the Foley Equipment Finish Line in third spot. Johnny Coats started seventh and finished in fourth while Shawn Whitman slipped back to fifth at the finish after starting second. Carroll also captured the Bolivar Herald-Free Press Mid-Season Championship picking up an extra $100 bill from track promoter Dan Robinson as well as a 12-quart jug of Lucas Racing Oil.

Hermitage Lumber put up extra cash for the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds as the special $750 to win main event was captured by West Plains, Missouri’s Logan Martin in a caution plagued event. Jeff Cutshaw started second and finished second but only after he was forced to go tailback after bringing out a caution early in the race as he slowed in turn 2. The 2014 Lucas Oil Speedway track champion put on an absolute driving clinic as he weaved his way to the front running out of laps at the end to challenge Martin for the win. Cutshaw did capture the Mid-Season Championship by virtue of his second place finish. Hermitage, Missouri’s Eric Turner slid back to third at the finish after starting on the pole. A pair of “racin’ Jasons” finished in fourth and fifth with Jason Russell in fourth and Jason Pursley in fifth at the finish. The main event was cut to 20 laps due to time limits.

Payton Looney and Jon Binning led the field to green in the ALPS Food Store ULMA Late Models with Looney charging to an apparent win and mid-season championship. However in post race inspection, Lucas Oil Speedway officials determined a non-operating rev limiter did not conform to the ULMA rule book handing the win to Binning. Looney was officially scored in 24th in the final run down. Justin Russell worked his way from fifth to second at the finish. Todd McCoin started third and finished third while also capturing the mid-season championship. Harrisonville, Missouri’s Ethan Young crossed the line in fourth while Jonathan Melloway from Hallsville, Missouri took the fifth spot. Tommy Cordray also failed post race inspection as the rev limiter in the #5 did not conform to specifications set in the ULMA rule book.

The final main event of the evening once again saw West Plains, Missouri’s Logan Martin as the last man standing in the Andy’s Frozen Custard Victory Lane as he led flag to flag for the win. Wheatland’s Mike Striegel took the second spot and the mid-season championship. 3-time and defending track champion Kris Jackson took the final podium spot with his third place finish. Shane Essary made a rare appearance driving Chuck Dobson’s #6 to finish in fourth with Stockton’s Robb Ewing rounding out the top-5.

Coming up this Thursday, July 2nd Casey’s General Stores and KY3 TV present a special Thursday Night Thunder edition of the Lucas Oil Speedway Weekly Championship Series as the drivers battle in the ALPS Food Stores Late Models, the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds, the Carson’s Corner Napa Factory Stocks, and the USRA B-Mods. The ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models will be the featured class of the evening as they run a special 25-lap, $1,000 to win main event courtesy of Rain’s Ice in the first leg of the 2015 ULMA Triple Crown Shootout.

Visit participating area Casey’s locations for $2 Discount Coupons to the night’s activities. As part of the evening’s “Salute to America” all Veterans with ID and Scouts in Uniform will be admitted FREE. The Lake Area’s Wildest Fireworks Show courtesy of AM Pyrotechnics will light up the night sky at the conclusion of the racing program as we celebrate our Nation’s Independence.

There will be no racing at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, July 4th.
