kentucky-lake-motor-speedwayCALVERT CITY, Kentucky – Chad Boone and Mike Neighbors were the winners in the feature races of Stock Car Bash Saturday night at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway.
The event showcased the “little guys,” the drivers in the two lowest of the five classes of racecars at KLMS. Boone, of Owensboro, Kentucky, won the 25-lap Stock Car feature, taking home the $2,500 first-place prize money, while Neighbors, of Cerulean, Kentucky, won the 15-lap Pure Stock event and $1,000.

Other winners on the program included Tanner English in Late Model, Bryce Jewell in Modified and Troy English in Crate Late Model.

The event was originally scheduled for Independence Day weekend, but was rained out. A tandem event for the Stock Car division at Paducah International Raceway was also washed out on July 3 and was rescheduled for Friday night. A $1,000 bonus was up for grabs for a driver who could win both $2,500-to-win features, and Brian Worley came close, taking the win at Paducah on Friday and finished second to Boone on Saturday.
Trent Young, a regular in the open-wheel Modifieds at KLMS, finished third in the Stock Car main event. Reigning KLMS track champion Mike Lentz overcame a tangle on the first lap of the initial start and finished fourth. Scott Hufford rounded out the top five.

Boone got his third win of the year at KLMS. Worley is also a three-time winner at the track.

In the Pure Stock race, Neighbors won an early battle with Gregg Brown and led Brown, Joseph Davidson, Mike Watson and Bill Moorman across the line. The win was the sixth straight for Neighbors, who is undefeated in six starts.

Tanner English, of Benton, Kentucky, won for the second week in a row, but this time in a different division. He won the Crate feature a week earlier and scored his first Late Model win of the season Saturday night. Tim Brown, Dylan Thompson, Jarryd Holshouser and Charles LaPlant were second through fifth in the five-car field.

Jewell, of Madisonville, Kentucky, got his first victory at KLMS, leading all the way in the Modified main. Trent Young was second, followed by Todd Riley, Jeff Elliott and Dustin Rollins. Jewell is the sixth different winner in eight Modified features this year.

Troy English, also of Benton, Kentucky, picked up his second Crate victory of the season. He led all the way to win over Credence Mott, with Kevin Poole, Logan Brown and Joe Mike trailing.
This weekend’s program will feature the Crate Late Models, with a $2,500 prize going to the feature winner. Tait Davenport, with four victories overall, has won two $2,500 specials and Tanner English got the victory in the July 11 big-money event for the Crate cars.

Also on the program will be races for Late Model, Modified, Stock Car and Pure Stock classes.
