Lucas Oil SpeedwayWHEATLAND, MO (July 19th, 2015) – On a sweltering July evening, John O’Neal Jr., Logan Martin, David Hendrix, and Jason Russell stood tall in Andy’s Frozen Custard Victory Lane on NWTF Race to Save the Hunt Night Presented by KODE 12 in Joplin.

The first main event to roll onto the grid was the ALPS Food Store ULMA Late Models and a surprising newcomer but area racing veteran scored his first ever dirt late model win as Kearney, Missouri’s John O’Neal Jr. scored top honors in just his fifth ever dirt late model start. Payton Looney charged from 20th to second in the caution free main event also earning the Keyser Manufacturing Hard Charger Award. Tommy Cordray started seventh and worked his way to third at the finish while Bobby Penney started fourth and finished fourth. Lockwood, Missouri’s Dwight Niehoff worked the top shelf to finish in fifth after starting in eighth.

A great field of USRA B-Mods were on hand as NWTF and AM Best joined forces to offer up the $1,000 to win main event. After a furious race with Kris Jackson, Logan Martin once again proved to be the man to beat in 2015 as he scored a narrow win over Jackson. IMCA racer Jim Gillenwater, all the way from Keokuk, Iowa advanced one spot from his original starting position to cross the Foley Equipment finish line in the third spot. Fort Scott, Kansas’ Andy Bryant worked his way to fourth after starting in 11th while Walker, Missouri’s Gary Clark drove his ProtectTheHarvest.com 4G to fifth at the finish.

The race of the evening easily belonged to the Carson’s Corner Napa Auto Parts Factory Stocks as a trio of titans, Tim Brown, David Hendrix, and Kenny Carroll battled throughout the main event. A determined and hungry Hendrix charged around the outside roaring down the front stretch out of turn 4 to narrowly beat Brown to the checkers by a mere .01 sec as recorded by the electronic system utilized by Lucas Oil Speedway. Brown was officially scored in second at the finish despite leading the majority of the main event. Camdenton’s Kenny Carroll had the best seat in the house as he crossed the finish line in third just behind the top two. Wheatland’s Chip Shaddox and Fair Grove, Missouri’s Shawn Whitman rounded out the top-5 in fourth and fifth respectively.

The final main event of the evening had a star studded field of Pitts Homes USRA Modified drivers as Logan Martin looked for a modified sweep but veteran racer and former track champion Jason Russell had other thoughts as he also utilized the topside to overtake Martin with 2 laps to go to score the win. Martin was able to hold on to second with Chanute, Kansas’ John Allen working his way to third after starting in sixth. Bolivar’s Jeff Cutshaw started seventh and finished fourth while Hutchinson, Kansas’ Brandon Givens scored his first career top-5 as he crossed the line in the fifth spot.
