HUMBOLDT, Kan.-Jason Hughes added to his incredible record at the Humboldt Speedway Friday night, winning the 40-lap main event in round 2 of the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental.

In running up his USMTS career win total to 126, the 41-year-old from Watts, Okla., racked up his 12th triumph at ‘The Hummer’ in the 41 USMTS events held here.

The win was worth $3,000 and also propelled the 2010 USMTS National Champion into fourth in the championship points standings. Two nights ago, he came into ‘The Hunt’ ranked 15th.

Despite leading all 40 laps of the caution-free contest from the outside of the front row, the road to victory was anything but easy.

Polesitter Zack VanderBeek battled door to door and kept the leader within striking distance early on while also fending off challenges from Johnny and Stormy Scott.

Stormy Scott, who debuted a new, self-owned team just two weeks ago, got around his twin brother on lap 20 and then found a way by VanderBeek ten laps later.

Not long after that, the 2012 King of America winner was on the rear bumper of Hughes, who claimed the King of America in March of this year.

As the two raced through traffic, Hughes tried numerous lines to dive in and out of lapped cars while Scott searched relentlessly for a way around the leader.

A final bid to duck underneath Hughes in the final corner came up three-tenths of a second short as Hughes crossed the line first while Scott scored his second runner-up finish in as many nights.

VanderBeek, meanwhile, was consistent and smooth as he crossed the finish line close behind in third with points leader Rodney Sanders following in fourth.

Johnny Scott held on for fifth, Cade Dillard steered his Snickers machine to a sixth-place finish, Darron Fuqua came home seventh, Jake Gallardo earned the eighth spot, Dereck Ramirez nabbed ninth and Jesse Sobbing rounded out the top 10.

The Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental blasts into Wheatland, Mo., on Saturday, for the only appearance of 2015 at the illustrious Lucas Oil Speedway for the 6th Annual USMTS Slick Mist Show-Me Shootout presented by Foley Equipment.

The first 1,000 fans through the gates receive a free can koozie courtesy of Foley Equipment.

Lucas Oil Speedway will grant two track provisional starting spots for the USMTS feature to the two drivers not making the show who are the highest in current Lucas Oil Speedway Pitts Homes USRA Modified points.

The USRA B-Mods and the Carson’s Corner Napa Factory Stocks will also be tackling the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks” this Saturday, along with the Battle of the Badges which will feature Missouri’s finest law enforcement officers racing to raise money for charity and for the title of “Top Cop.”

Be sure to pick your copy of the track’s souvenir program to get a preview of the 2015 season plus over $40 in valuable coupons available inside and a chance to win a ride in the Lucas Oil Speedway 2-Seat Late Model.

Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps begin at 7 and racing starts at 7:30.

Adults (16 and up) are $20, seniors (62 and up) $15, youth (6-15) $5 and kids 5 and under get in for free. A family pass is just $40. Pit passes will be $30.

Race fans can get discount coupons good for $2 off adult general admission at Casey’s General Stores locations in Hermitage, Osceola, Warsaw, Weaubleau and Wheatland on race day. Joe Duvall and his No. 91 AMP Energy machine will be greeting fans in person at the 310 E. Hwy 54 location in Wheatland from 12-2 p.m. Tune your radio to KWTO 560 AM to hear live broadcasts from the appearance
